Is it true that it's harder to reach 1800 now?

Hi.

I’ve heard that at the beginning of the season, it’s much more difficult to gain rating. Is that true? If I reached 1800 at the end of last season, does that mean I probably won’t be able to now? I just want to know because if it’s true, I don’t want to waste my time trying.

MMR didn’t reset. It’s basically as easy as it was at the end of last season.

Just queue up and play, man.

Im 1500 right now and sitting at a crappy 16 won of 36 played in shuffle.

It aint that bad.

Just don’t be a garbage player like me and you’ll be fine.

I just tried a Solo as MW Monk and lost every round

Oof, that’s tough man. I’ll be honest, I’ve had good luck killing enemy MWs this season, so maybe they’re just squishy? I dunno.

It’s sad people don’t play games because they like them anymore

its free rn. Even 2300+ is free in shuff atm. Loads of fotm abusers that high from qing all day

Nothing more fun than playing consistently around 25-2600 last season just to be down at 1900 this season because of the ele nerfs.

I truly was just a lucky fotm andy. I suck at this game :sob:

That is true, yes. Its mostly caused of rating inflation we get every single week. Like every week the average mmr increases a bit. So at the end of the season, you have by default a higher mmr (often like 200-300 mmr more), which makes it easier to get to a specific rating.

I’m losing countless games, I’m practically stuck at 1550. So you are right.

PvP is by far the worst content in this game for me—very frustrating, and everything happens way too fast. I only do it for the transmogs.

The good news is, if you can manage a 4 win match, you get a decent chunk of rating.

Last season I pulled a six round ace and got around 650 rating; basically pushed me straight to Rival

At this point, it would be more interesting if Blizzard removed the rating requirement for 1800 sets and other smaller things, and instead put the number of matches won to unlock them. Above 2.1k, it would just be the special weapon effect, Gladiator title, and Gladiator mount.

Bro how would that be interesting

Already basically the case because you can get ““elite”” sets with a 35% win rate by late season

I like this idea.
I think preventing players from losing points up to 1800 could also be cool.

Because this way, you could say that, by winning X matches, you unlock the 1800 set… for example, 2k matches won would unlock the 1800 set (at that point, getting 1800 wouldn’t mean much). This would make players simply ‘play’ without worrying about rank, abandonments, or losing 5 rounds and only winning one. It would be a personal reward system, not based on group skill, which is the current problem with SS.

The rank would just be something above 2.1k…

The two biggest problems I see are:

Problem 1: Players who lose almost every round because they ended up in an unplayable match – like, for example, a F.warrior in a lobby with 2 frost mages and 2 warlocks… this is practically a death sentence for the warrior, who will have to push himself to the extreme to do anything. Or an UDK who ended up in a match with two arms warriors and two DHs.

Problem 2: There are the unlucky ones who are playing a nerfed class and reach 1700s, staying at 4/6 or 3/6, basically stuck in the same place until a matchup comes where they lose 1/6 or 0/6 and drop back to 1500s…

The reward for individual effort was more necessary in these cases, but anyway, it’s just an idea…

Yes, a bad one.

I like the idea.

Exactly. And then there are those who just can’t do it (like me).

I like your idea and I think it would attract more players to PVP (at least until they get the transmogs :D)
