Is it too soon to drop Prot Warr to become a Prot Pally?

I mean, waht are the chances of any of them being nerfed/buffed ?

Prot pally already received a quick nerf. The nerf and buff cycle will be endless. There is zero reason to drop your prot warrior for a prot paladin, unless you just like the flavor of a prot paladin more than a warrior.

Never pick a class according to a buff/nerf cycle.

I’m told they gain a lot from gear and so phase 1 of any expansion they’re going to suck. Get in on the ground level, I say.

To be honest i like both, i just like classes that uses one-handed + shield. As i recall only that classes uses this set. Int doesn’t count.

Dude theres plenty of time do what you want.

I rarely go through phase 1 in every expansion, Mop, Wod, Legion and BFA i dropped befor patch 0.1

If you enjoy playing a pally more, go for it.

Basing character choices of what is currently leading in some far-out simulation of a fight that doesn’t exist, is a recipe for frustration.

Well, it’s easy to say that when your class is toping everything. To be honest i prefer Prot Warrior, but PRot Pally is second. But it’s frustrating to see a friend that is playing an alt the he just don’t play too much outperforming by a lot your main, and then you go see why and realize you’ve been playing in very hard mode for a long time.

Prot Pally is still too good, even after the nerfs. More will come.
Prot Warrior is currently trash-tier in both playstyle and ability.

DH has been the SL tank surprise thus far. Fun to play and good in the role.

DHs can’t be dwarves.

Warriors always “feel” more badass. Probably due to me not having any lol.

prot warrior always gets good when the gear catches up. you could switch but may regret that later.

I LOVE 5-way Shield Throw, its 15 total if you count the bounces, its an Omni-Shield.

the answer is dependant on what you want to do…
I stuck with my prot pally, because it’s so versatile… I can tank, I can also solo… it can self heal…
my warrior, pretty much retired… it could tank… but not near so good as solo, once we get to seeing many more elites… eventually, warrior can use a healer.

I actually enjoy warrior, but I’ve decided I’m not gonna run a main and 14 alts anymore… current roster, is down to 6.

but back to the question… I fully expect pally to fade away as a raid tank… I think DH has had it’s day for awhile. So, which class becomes best, I can’t even guess. Given the attention to Deathknights, IF I did guess, that’d be it.

We do not scale with gear. We will likely get buffs like we got in BFA though.

Prot Pally has good damage, but we are the squishiest tank by far. DH does almost as much damage as Pally and takes way less damage.

I’ve healed them all and I thing Guardian and Prot Warrior are squishier. In Heroics anyway.

Do prot pally until 9.2, then switch to warrior when gear stats are high enough that warrior feels fluid.

No you don’t scale but when gear get’s maxed, prot warriors always see love from the devs

To be fair, the type/quality of players signing up to Heroics probably don’t even have half their buttons keybound  Probably the type that never presses Ironfur, never Shield Blocks, etc etc

I’ve been getting my own Prot Warrior up and running, already done one Mythic 0 world tour last week and planning another 0’s world tour this weekend.

So far it’s fairly sturdy defensively (but I also actually push my buttons/Shield Blocks), but the aggro/threat can be a problem at times. Like other have already mentioned, I’m sure it will play better once there is more gear.

At the moment everyone is undergeared relative to the content, I guess we’ll just have to see how the tanks end up playing out or if/when there will be tank tuning to bring Prot Warrior up to the same level as the others.
