Title. Started a new character. Before I put in TOO much effort, is it too late to start? I know I will be behind but how far will I be? Is there any way to catch up?
Big exp boost. You can farm a currency to buy all of T1 and half of T2, plenty of MC/BWL/ raids to get geared otherwise.
It’s only too late to start if you make it so in your mind. Do you want to check out what will be the first entirely new raid set in the Classic WoW setting? Then it’s a good time as any.

I suppose its dependent on server and faction, but I leveled an alt and find end game challenging due to a wall between naxx and bwl.
Most naxx runs I see require full sanctified but in order to do that, you must do kara, but kara is so tuned up that groups won’t take you unless you are naxx geared.
Might be easier if a healer, but not sure.

They are rare but you can find Naxx 0 being ran. Just get the 3p sanc gear from the AH. Bracers, Cloak and gloves (or you might need necrotic runes for gloves). Farm up 3k Remnants of Valor… its what you need to hit rank 7. Bam! ur ready for Naxx. =)

making your own group is an impossible task these days.
everytime single you do a dung, somebody formed that group

Basically you only have 1 choice if you dont like pvp servers. Alliance wildgrowth. The horde are growing but slowly. Finding a group is ruff but on alliance you can do anything at any given time.
Bwls do not exist on horde wikd growth, Aq is done frequently and the dragons. But dont forget the grind to get your seal rank 7 which will take time due to alliance trolls poaching your hard work.
So TDLR play alliance for both pvp and pve servers. Its just easier QoL

You can get sanctified gear from quests, crafted, and off the AH. You really don’t HAVE to do Kara. You get the Undead gear bonus at 2pc. now, hands are basically free and bracers are (usually) cheap off the AH.
My guild, Forsaken, still runs BWL and MC every Friday night, and we will let just about anyone in the guild. We are a large guild with tons of alts, so pre-raid content is running constantly. No one should have to suffer rolling Alliance, or fresh on a pvp server for that matter.

Explain how you get 8/8 because I’m missing something if you can. Like, more specifically than…crafted gear. 
If you are talking about the AD rep turn ins…I can’t even imagine doing that on an alt, and especially a new player who doesn’t have gold to buy turn ins. Not really practical.
Besides, my point is that there is a wall between naxx and bwl that new players are hitting. That implies that they got a hell of a climb over it to catch up.
For Rogue, you can get:
- Wristwraps of Undead Slaying from AH
- Handwraps of Undead Slaying from Argent Outfitter for 30 Necrotic Runes, easy to get
that gets you 4/8 - Glacial Cloak crafted
- Polar Tunic crafted
- Polar Leggings from ‘Only Song I know…’ quest
- Ramaladni’s Icy Grasp from ‘Ramaladni’s Icy Grasp’ quest
You are at 8/8 Sanctified without Kara. Best part is that is a lot of high level gear that you didn’t have to grind out raids hoping for a drop, or accumulate reals. Yeah, you have to farm for mats and turn-ins, but this game (particularly vanilla/classic) has never shied away from requiring effort for outcomes. Not to mention you will need to accumulate the FR gear anyways because your Naxx raid will want you to have it for Saphiron.
I mean if you were so concerned about doing Naxx as a new player you could forego your epic mount and spend the gold you made leveling on the above.
ive been playing it a lot the past few weeks. its still doable but i really struggle finding groups for anything at all if im being honest.

Agreed, I think people are taking a little break before Scarlet Enclave. I know I am basically raid logging till then and playing retail/cata/anniv in the meantime.
Come April 8 we will be full again.
Now might be the best time to start, the classes are likely in their final state so you are unlikely to get bait and switched by the dev team like so many who picked their class based on its state in earlier phases only to have it completely changed in later phases.
I mean, you would prolly have some fun with it, even though this is the last of the raids it seems, possibly content as well. Not sure how many people still play outside of raid logging though.
Its def easy to gear up though, should be able to PUG all the content too.
i started about a month ago now and ive been having a blast as a rogue
getting into naxx started to be a problem until i looked more into sanc pieces and gettng 8 isnt as bad
remnant farming is boring and ive noticed not many groups since it got hard capped at 7
I’m pretty sure that 5 & 6 requires naxx (echoes of war quest), and issue is that people want 8/8 to get into naxx.
Which it is what it is (I was just gut checking knowledge because I just lost this argument with someone else because I thought you could skip kara and have 8/8 to get into naxx)
its a community problem where 8/8 isn’t needed for HM 1 & 2, and it would be more realistic to just require max seal with 6/8 min. That is more than enough.
