Eh, I never tell anyone to play a class because FotM because unless you are doing top 1% content every spec is capable of doing all content.
However I do encourage leveling 1 of every class since leveling is easy and it helps you figure out what class is really for you. So maybe Shaman will just be your jam.
However… We rarely stay tops at anything for long lol. So reroll with that in mind as well.
Like I always come back to Shaman for 2 reasons. Lightning is freaking cool… And it’s one of the few classes that can do every single legacy boss (Looking at you Slime in AQ40 and Dreamweaver in ICC) if soloing old raids is your jam like it is mine.
The only viable spec is bear? All specs are viable. A good player can perform well at any spec. This reminds me of when multistrike came out in WoD. People were so nuts about that stat we had pure dps trying to roll offspec on gear that didn’t have any multi strike on it. Because “haste isn’t viable for my spec”. WoW players have this weird mindset of “If it’s not the best, it’s trash…
I dint disagree that some specs are played better and can out preform normal players but generally speaking evoker and shaman are out preforming druids by over 100%. This is including all players top 5% and lower 5%.
So to say a druid in the top 5% of players will play just as good as a shaman in the top 5 % is wrong.
Where are you getting that they’re outperforming them by 100%? That’s some made up homebrew 1) You can’t just blanket the entire class. There are specs in the class. Which ones are outperforming another spec by 100%? Show your evidence.
Looking at raid logs it’s nothing like that… Druids were a tiny bit behind but should move a little bit ahead after the 5% buff.
If you are looking at M+ logs for whatever reason:
Those stats are not even true, again HPS is showing very close, whthin 5%…
Why are we even brinigng HPS in M+ logs, that’s the most worthless metric possible… The HPS you do in M+ is dictated by the group and how much damage it took not by the healer, also the pulls and pace are different… It’s just a totally worthless stat.
This has been my main since the Vanilla days and I dont remember the last time all 3 specs were balanced so well in terms of class power.
Resto is by far the most dominant healer in keys. Enhance is one of the top dps in both raid and keys. Ele is solid in both raid and keys.
No matter which of the 3 specs you choose, it is doing very well. More importantly, the class is very fun with its utility and theme. Even after this season passes, chances are it will remain fun to play.
@OP, don’t go chasing the FOTM. I’ve played Shaman (along with most of the other healers) on and off since BC. They’re like every other healer in game when there’s seasons, or something whole xpacs, where they’re stupid strong and meta. Then there are other times where you’ll get laughed out of a group for playing one. Every healer is good so far in this xpac, and the meta shifts pretty much every season. Who’s to say they won’t change something in 2 weeks that nerfs Shamans greatly, then you’re back to chasing a different FOTM healer.
If you genuinely like how the class plays and have fun playing it, by all means switch to Shaman. Just don’t do it solely because they’re current a top healer.
on ulgrax boss Shamans are putting out 7.8 million HPS.
and druids are pulling 7mil. so 800k lower. Unless I’m reading the data incorrectly which could be true.
that’s according to Warcraft logs site. I could have read the previous data incorrectly.
