Is it safe to delete characters yet?

After that initial scare where, from as far as I am aware, the restore character feature is still disabled, I’d sure like to know if I can delete my unused alts that are sitting at under level 40 or so because the current list that extends past the warband group is a complete travesty on my sense of aesthetics.

If I could have the option to go back to the old system, I wouldn’t touch them but seeing as there is no way to alter how it is set up because it’s not in-game, I REALLY don’t want to risk the game deleting my mains.

You can delete all the characters you want. You just can’t restore them. So if there is a possibility that you’ll want to restore them, hold off.

Well, I’d rather I delete the characters I INTEND to delete, not have the system bug out and decide to delete my mains when I have the random level 12 hunter or whatever selected.

Don’t do it! Everytime you delete a character a homeless dwarf loses a tooth.

Why would people delete characters unless they actually don’t want them?

I’ve not had that issue and have deleted over 20 characters since the pre-patch. It always deleted the character I had selected and showing on the screen.

Nope, and I wish they had told us this when 11.0 dropped cause I deleted ~20 characters because I THOUGHT everything had been saved.

Surely it’s a simple question of “Will I ever want this character?”
If no, delete.
Otherwise don’t delete them lol.

If you’re going to delete old, unused alts why does it matter if the restore is functioning? If you’re going to delete it, delete it. If there’s even a sliver of “I might play it one day” then don’t delete it.

Did you read OP’s comments?

There are multiple reports of this in both Customer Service and Bug Reports.

To OP.

I have had no issues deleting perhaps a dozen character over the past few days, I do not have any characters in “favorites” slots, never have, this may be why I have not had any issues.

I went through and deleted 30+ unused alts and never had it delete anything it wasn’t supposed to. Anecdotal sure but :person_shrugging:

The issue was that other people were deleting unwanted characters but the game was deleting their WARBAND characters instead.
