Is it really that difficult?

So on MMO-Champions they released a post about the upcoming Winter Veil holiday, like they do for every holiday.

Yet again, we’re getting a holiday with essentially nothing new.

Is it really that difficult for Blizzard to release a couple palette-swapped new companion pets to catch? Is it really that difficult for them to just reskin a few mounts and have them drop from the Grinch Yeti?

Is it difficult to actually provide updates to holidays instead of letting them stagnate year after year?

That’s all rhetorical because none of that stuff is difficult. The devs simply don’t care. Why is this acceptable?

And please don’t say “they’re working on Shadowlands it’ll take away time!” because different departments and it takes little effort to do these things but the fans appreciate it.

But hey…at least we have a new hat for Pepe >.>

We don’t need new stuff with every holiday every year.

Part of the fun of events like these are the nostalgia and ability to complete ones you didn’t finish last year, etc.

Sounds like I can stay unsubbed this christmas. Thanks blizz!

(I’ll be back for 8.3, I want that stupid backpack)

This is how I feel. I would rather that development time go to the new expansion so it’s better than BFA.

I wish they’d just put a small team together to work exclusively on holidays. It’s neat to have holiday events, but sucks that it’s the same thing over and over and over with basically 0 variation other than -maybe- a new pet or toy on the vendor.

Hey, I’m still rocking my toy armor and weapon sets from last year.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t just a WoW thing. Go check the OW forums. People complain about the same thing there, and Jeff Kaplan told us the reason was because all the resources go into other forms of new content development. There was this big thing about how one of his people wants to do something epic and fun for Halloween and Jeff (regrettably) had to tell him that would have to wait till OW2 came out.

Personally I’d prefer a new holiday.

Don’t forget to do the anniversary event stuff if you haven’t yet. I think that stops in early January and you can get the high def Stormpike ram and that Deathwing mount.

Thanks buddy! Yeah I got the DW mount as soon as I could, and while I was leveling a priest using Korrak, I noticed I was more than halfway to the mount so I just ground that out. I knew I was taking a break, so I made sure to not miss out.

At least WoW has substantive stuff to do that isn’t just centered around Lootboxes.

The counter argument is they could take that same team and have them work on…something else?

They added sleigh rides??? Sweeet. I remember when they added love boats to stormwind. Id just whizzz around the canals until raid was ready.

…? Imagine calling someone spoiled for asking a question about development in a game they pay for. /Ignored

Do we “need” it? No. You don’t really “need” anything besides food, water, and shelter. Saying if we need it or not is pendantic.

Wait what,where??

Small indie company.

There’s already so much to do in the game… I don’t mind NOT trying to tackle a 1 to 2 week event with my army of alts once a month every time a holiday comes out.

The tone and content of the OP’s post was not “asking a question” about development. It was “slamming” Blizz and contained things like
“Is it all that difficult?” and “The devs simply don’t care”.

This sounds more like a “spoiled child” than a courteous question about development.
