To come to the realization that transferring WoW to an SSD has actually made the game more enjoyable to play than it has been in a long time? Yes, I joined the ranks, and I don’t honestly know why it took me so long.
Now put it on an nvme ssd.
Upgrades!
That’s my boot drive. Couldn’t even find the slot for it until I removed my graphics card.
SSD is a life changer
To be able to load the game in just a few seconds is a big quality of life improvement and it makes the game more enjoyable.
I’ve had all my games sitting on a SSD for a while now. No joke its by far the biggest performance gain you can get. Easily on par with GPU or CPU upgrades. Haven’t put them on an nvme yet. Just an internal 2.5 inch Samsung. But I doubt I would gain the same performance jump as going from HDD to SATA SSD.
Made me sad to move from a fusion drive to an external SSD, but yup. Magic.
I’m still waiting to upgrade too.
I’ve heard such great things about the SSD that I feel like I’m going to be disappointed at this point.
And NVME and to a lesser extent an M.2 don’t actually make that much of a difference in game play or anything really.
Unless you are running a program that goes above 500Mbps constantly for large file transfers you won’t notice any real difference to pay the extra for it.
Did it increase you fps in the game? Im still using a hdd on my 6 year old potato. In mids of saving cash for new tech coming this fall. Rtx 3080- need!
HDD to SSD is the single biggest upgrade you can make to any PC. I held off on doing it for so long because SSD’s used to be so small for such a high cost, but once I did make the change it was like night and day.
Very much this! I switched to a SSD long ago, and I am quite happy with the performance.
It actually did make a big difference in FPS.
The Dalaran loadscreen went from 2 minutes to 4 seconds
Overclocked and ON FIre…!!!
My Garrison load screen went from crashing out to successfully loading in seconds.
I didn’t notice much difference. I wouldn’t go out and buy a bigger nvme drive to store all my games with the current price when they’re already on a sata SSD. But if the prices came down I would consider it. So tl;dr price is too high for me without enough speed bump.
Maybe it will fix this damn loading i always get. Example, all items in my bag are see through in my first time logging in
I love our player base of gamers. Meanwhile, elsewhere, “Blizzard is launching WoW 9.0 alongside PS5 and Xbox?!”… (sorry, the next xbox,
)
That should go smashingly. /s
Not bad that you did it and realized it’s great, little bad it took you so long. 240 GB SSDs have been available for 40 bucks or less for 5-6 years at this point lol
I know. I was memeing. lol
