They like to make content become irrelevant over and over again.
The game has become so linear on what you can do that holds a purpose it is a joke.
Raids, Mythic +, and Instanced PvP is realistically the only thing WoW has to offer once max level

I ask myself this while grinding for that legion pathfinder and allied races. No sense at all.
It was during wrath of the lich king when players did the 10man and 25man version of the raid each week. I remember people complaining about it then.
Raiding is where this game shines. It’s crazy to me that they put such a hard cap on how much of it you can do. It shouldn’t be unlimited obviously and it doesn’t need to be the ONLY thing to do or get rewards but it should be at least be on par with other game modes if that’s what you like to do.
Which is more than WoW has had to offer at max level for challenging content since…ever?
Ah so we are just making stuff up now?
Share value per month? Are you thinking of dividends which is not the actual share valuation? They will release the 2019 dividend payments in a month or so.
This.

He got the billions of $ right though.
My guess is that the Blizz team is working with very limited resources in regards to money, time, and personnel. As such they no longer have the freedom to just create a ton of content and let people do as much of any one thing as they want.
That’s why we have this current model of very wide, but shallow pools of activity to choose from. And why they have put such a big emphasis on being alt friendly. The only way to stay busy is to do a little bit of everything, because they just don’t have the approval and budgeting from higher ups to create a crap load of content like they did in WOTLK.
I think it would’ve been okay in a lot of other expansions, but BFA has been in a California-scale content drought since like two weeks in. Obsoleting content right now is like eating your own arms.
If you wanted to have a competitive ilvl, then you would be grinding cosmetics
But with McForging you still have a chance to get equivalent level gear so why not run Uldir if you really want to?? Sure you’ll have a smaller chance for an upgrade but there isn’t “zero reason”.

No probably not. But there isn’t a very good reason to send players back into old content.
besides I thought Ilvl wasn’t competitive in any case. Everything is about IO score yeah?
Yes I know, You need ilvl to get into the content… just… I’ll be over here in the corner.

Except your comment doesn’t make any sense, even using Wrath as an example.
Wrath launched with a a complete reskin raid and armor. Like 0 work at all put in and was an absolute slap in the face for difficulty.
First patch is a raid (great raid) and 3 world quests. No story quests, no dungeons, no nothing.
Them we get the ToC patch. A small quest chain, some dailies, and the raid and the dungeon all in the same room. Barely any art assets. Bosses are reskins.
Final is ICC patch, which is the most artificially time gated raid ever released. And 3 pretty cool dungeons. No world content. No dailies. No new quests.
What exactly is all this content added every patch in Wrath you are talking about??
Theres no real raid progression expect for mythic now, all we have to do is wait till theres over a month left of each raid tier an blizzard will just give you free heroic gear from doing some world quest. Ann while we are at it go do a warfront an run around in circles blizzard will give you a free piece of mythic gear for your troubles cause well you freaking earned it big guy!
Except getting 400s for probably 4 months before the big catchup come out?
Starting tomorrow there are 9 bosses dropping 400 gear in heroic BoD.
Emissaries stop at 385 IF you are at whatever they want you to be at to get it scaled that high (prob 375+).
1 400 item every 3 weeks on darkshore warfront.
Or mythic+10 dropping 400.
This doesnt change the fact that over 6 weeks before the teir ended they just started handing out heroic gear, this doesnt make for a fun an rewarding game. 6 freaking weeks before the teir ended less then 6 freaking months since launch an we alrdy had a current heroic level catch up mechanic.
What did we need a catch up for!!! The current freaking teir that still has over a month left its insane
I do think 6 weeks was too long, probably closer to 3 weeks would have been better.
It was catchup to get ready for BoD though, obviously. People coming back or changing mains or whatever.
Raids were irrelevant in the next tier as early as Wrath, so yes. 5 mans were also irrelevant past the first 3 or 4 days back then as well.
The problem is either it’s easy to catch up at the start of a tier, or tons of people get left behind.
But i can understand where the OP is comming from since the scaling tech was first introduced in Timewalking and then better iterated on in M+. Why cant Uldir be buffed to be a middle ground between Heroic and Mythic Dazalor once the raid releases, they easily have the tech to upscale raids, Warfronts, Old World bosses.
Especially now that Tier is gone outside of it being “the new Raid” it actually doesnt make sense to “turn off” the content that was previously available.
Darkshore and Arathi Warfront should both be buffed to the new level on jan 22 and then fr 8.2 or 8.3 etc
Imagine WSG-AV-Arathi Basin were removed from the BG que once you hit 61 and then each BG introduced was only available to play on if you meet the level of that expansion.
I would prefer if on Jan 22:
Arathi and Darkshore Warfront are both buffed to drop 400ilvl quest with 370 for regular Warfront completion.
All World Boss Drops are buffed and now drop 385ilvl (Normal DA equivalent)
Dazalor Raid has Mythic = 415, Heroic = 400, Normal = 385, LFR = 370
Uldir buffed has Mythic = 405, Heroic = 390, Normal = 375, LFR = 360
10 ilvl lower than the “new” raid so that DA still has incentive but high enough that your guild/friends etc etc can still run Uldir if they please for relevant rewards.
why invalidate content? that was the big success of original TW and the actual success of Legion
Increasing catchup to fit the new tier immediately on tier release is the biggest mistake that can be made.
Just hang on till all the LFR wings are out, then there’s room for discussion on it.
This has been going on since Vanilla. Nothing new about this at all and it isn’t BfA’s doing. Vanilla WoW, ZG gear was obsolete with MC. MC gear was obsolete to BWL gear etc.
I recognize that this has been the status quo for a while. My point, however, is that precedence in and of itself is not an inherently strong argument. On the contrary, if your response were to be “this is how it’s always been done,” I would personally find that to be a weak argument as it has no basis for its own existence.
In prior expansions the weaknesses of a system in which content is made obsolete mid-expansions could have been masked by a plethora of other engaging activities the expansion could offer.
But my point is that here, in BFA, this system has a very ugly result. Most of BFA’s content has been dismissed as either unoriginal or unentertaining by the community, and the grind systems in place that were designed to hold player attention through 8.2 simply aren’t doing their job. And now, thanks to the developers’ attitude that certain content must replace “older” content (though I hesitate to use that word when referring to content within the same expansion) what is going to happen is that we’re swapping out one raid for another, slightly shorter one and we’re consigning one warfront out of two to a bin of irrelevance. Couple that with the fact that tomorrow’s raid is just that; a raid. We aren’t getting another warfront or a new continent a’la Broken Shore or a Suramar equivalent.
What this means is that, in an expansion already starved for content, tomorrow’s patch will literally give players less meaningful things to do, not more. In an MMORPG that boasts a huge world and thousands of things to do, this should absolutely never be the case.
