Is it Possible to Rp as a Worgen but with a Different Theme other than Gilneas? Like the Worgen back in Classic WoW, Night Elf Worgen, or the Worgen that was in the Grizzly Hills but survived and what theme inspired did those Worgen/Silverbrook Hunters had back during Wrath of the Lich King in Northrend?
I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “possible”, though I imagine you’re asking if it fits in with the lore?
Lorewise, it’s fine. They’ve been all over the place with worgen lore, so there’s not necessarily a need for you to have done the ceremony in Gilneas. The examples you just mentioned work. The worgen in Grizzly Hills are a particularly good example, as they seem to not be stark raving lunatics.
“But they’re killers!”
…I suspect that’s less a “worgen” thing and more a “these people are dicks” thing.
If I misunderstood you, and you instead meant RPing as some murdering mad dog? I mean…like, you can, but that’s an easy way to get shot.
While Gilnean Worgen are the default there are several examples of active Worgen from other national backgrounds, such as Sven Yorgen. Other Worgen origins are workable as well. Overall, as often the case in character generation, the possibilities are often more limited by how one chooses to utilize the lore rather than the lore itself.
for the win my boi. Also lore wise its iffy but the Darkshire worgen have a cure as said.
The worgen in Fel Wood are speced to be Kaldorei. its just a matter of ‘are you friendly’ but yes you can. I am not sure about other races but its never really been said no or yes. I would assume any race and be infected.
My own Worgen is from Stormwind, and I had a lot of fun RPing out the plot of his transformation back around the launch of Cataclysm.
I played it out that he was bitten back in Grizzly Hills while going on missions against the Worgen out there, but hid it, and used (somewhat lore-questionable, I admit) alchemical methods to delay the ultimate transformation, though it worsened various symptoms and side-effects in the meantime.
His return to society after he finally lost himself to it was traumatic, and in the years since, I’ve sort of accidentally written him as having pretty bad PTSD over it. I didn’t actually realize that’s what I’d done until someone else pointed it out.
All of the other ones save for the Night Elf Worgen are possible. Keep in mind that they’re all pretty much despicably evil as well though. The Northrend Worgen in particular echo the more dark tales of isolated areas of the Pine Barrens in New Jersey or Appalachia with their hints of cannibalism.
Those worgen however are totally lost to the wolf and can’t assume any other forms.
If youre going the Night Elf in Worgen form route…
The night elves banned the Pack Form (worgen form) for a good reason. The form was difficult to control, the practitioners were going feral because it was difficult, and the bite (from any “non-cured” worgen) could infect people and turn them.
I’ve seen players RP the Night Elf in Worgen form, so its not unheard of. I do think that the nelves would generally be some mix of furious, afraid and intolerant towards Nelf Worgen at best because of the history of Pack Form. Towards Gilneans, probably not quite so much, because its a different case. Gilneans didn’t generally choose to become Worgens.
