Yes. Someone in this thread was using alts to like their own posts. In this thread and another, anyone they got into an argument with had their posts flagged.

yeah, that should be punished, if not blocked from happening all together.
Yeah, she started doing it to us when we disagreed with her thread about vote kicking being harassment.

Yes, someone was switching to alt chars to flag posts and to like their own posts. I agree, the flags need to be Bnet Account bound, like they are on the other forums using this software.
The Web Team has been alerted and the issue will be discussed.
They don’t want to take that away from us. The ability to post per character was something they did just for WoW which was not in the core software. Hopefully they can sort it out and keep our posting toons.
That said, I am so used to posting on my Btag everywhere else it would not personally bother me. It would just be odd for the WoW forums to get to know me as MissCheetah instead.

Raspir I disagree that this thread shows the forums flagging system is prone to abuse. It shows it is possible to abuse. If anything, now that we understand how easy it is to uncover the abuse, we see that it rarely happens judging by the fact that we rarely get threads where so many community members are complaining about abuse and are willing to do what it takes to stop that abuse.

I suspect there are a few who report consistently and follow those they’ve reported with the intent of reporting them again.
I think, and just my opinion here, they have something fundamentally wrong with them that they feel the need to do this.
They’re obvious after awhile and I think the mods do catch on but really, what can they do about it aside from ignoring the multitude of reports?
There probably is a penalty for rabid reporting. Idk if it’s used or not. Abuse of system or something like that.
I love this name and will now forever more think of you as Miss Cheetah.

It was my D2 Account name which was based on an old nick name. I was a cross country and track runner. Friends called me “Cheetah Woman” and figured I would be in a wheelchair by 20 based on injuries. I was not. I used Cheetah for many pencil and paper RPG games over those years. By the time I made my D2 account I was a teacher and Cheetah was taken. Hence, MissCheetah. Teacher title + old nickname.

I could see the remedy being that a person would only be allowed to use one character per Bnet account to flag. That would fix the problem and still allow us to post on our characters.
