Is it okay to farm with 2 accounts with manual input? (not botting)

Hey, I figured I’d ask this question before trying it out because I’d hate to lose my accounts for something dumb like this haha.

My friend says its the same as botting but I don’t think so, I’d like to have some opinions from other payers or maybe a wow team member that could confirm if its allowed in the TOS rules.

If I have 2 wow accounts with subs, would it be okay to set one character to follow and control the other character, and then manually click on resource nodes on both clients when I get to them? I was planning on using 2 max level characters for this. Also running old content for farming too with the same idea of running on one, other follow, and looting manually on both?

I wouldn’t be running any scripts or anything, I’m literally just running 2 game clients and tabbing between them, is that allowed? I’m asking because it may seem like botting I guess to have the other character following my main one and only making inputs to pick stuff up.

Thanks in advance, just want a way to make some extra gold in game faster because I want to save up for some mounts and such.

If it is a manual input I wouldn’t see it as a issue but I could be very wrong. I have never used either account together like that. I have 2 accounts cause its easier to move gold from faction to faction with 2.

Manual alt tabbing is fine.

You can even use /follow and be fine. Its an ingame feature you see.

Botting is using many add ons and scripts to automate. That is bad.

If you’re worried about it, you might try contacting someone at customer service.

Yeah I was worried the /following and just tabbing to collect matts would be considered a form of automation. If its completely fine to use this method though then I’m gonna go for it, been absolutely monopolizing the ore sales for my realms AH lately, would love to double that output. Really want that mobile auction house mount but he’s priceyyyyy

This is perfectly fine. Only using software or special hardware to emulate keystrokes is banned for multiboxing.

Your friend is confused if he thinks that’s “botting”. But a lot of people have no clue what a bot is.

There isn’t one currently available. The BfA one was removed.

Yes, it’s fine! If one press = one character doing one action, nothing more, nothing less, you should be good to go.

WAIT IT WAS WHAT?

Awh MAN now what am I gonna spend my gold on?? Why did they remove it???

Because they wanted to boost Token sales, and you needed almost a dozen or 2 just to afford the long boi, so basically they made the brutosaur a time limited mount (towards the end of the expansion) as a means to jack up Token sales without expressly saying what they were doing

Dang I had no idea, well saves me the effort of hoarding all that gold then. I have decent enough gold to keep me going in game, I just was saving up for that because I do enjoy having stuff at my fingertips. Still sucks though. They need to bring more stuff like that back. The Mammoth and Yak are sooo goood.

Maybe I’ll go train my engineering up with the gold then.

Edit: also no, I didn’t consider buying tokens at the time it was out, that thought completely skipped my mind >.< would of been easier to just outright buy him with IRL cash.

I know people who bought it with out buying a single token.

Classic/tbcc this is all over lol. I like many had the tag along you know is the 2nd account.

I had my brave strong orc warrior (boosted on a sale, so I said wth lets try this for a month) escort the weedy blood elf all over the place.

Great for closing out some quests when the mobs are red. and you don’t want to spend an hour to move to quest areas you can do.

Also got me a few dungeons done I could not get 4 people to run. when /who says its just you…it means one thing. If you are poor, you can’t buy the runs on lfg channel lol.

Even leveled somewhat in retail with a 2 man there.

But we also saw players in the forums saying they were maxing out their tokens each week.

I bought one. I didn’t buy any tokens to do it. I earned the gold in-game.

Oh yeah it defiantly has a lot of advantages! I might try that concept for classic, I went and played for a bit then skipped out because I remembered just how dang hard it was without having a proper group to level with ahah (holding out hope for WotLK for classic tho >.>)

Retails got too many QoL changes I enjoy, but I miss Classic’s lore/worlds and a bit more in depth on the gameplay when it comes to training your skills up and such.

I’m running older quests/low level ones right now in Retail waiting for Shadowlands to move along again, and picking up nodes in between, netting me about 400 for a few hours of gameplay. I can only imagine if I streeled a 2nd account with me and doubled that the money I’d be making.

Though my main purpose has been destroyed in this thread now, as I was informed the long boi has been removed from BfA :’( Wil have to figure out something else to aim for to spend gold on haha.

Yeah we did. But I know people who buy a token just to grab a xmog item. It makes no sense to me.

But I’m not a huge collector of things.

I kinda forgot tokens can be exchanged for more than just game time tbh. Already paying for a sub I never think to look into their other uses. Aside from something that’s very expensive like the AH mount I missed, I’d rather just earn the gold in game for free and give me something to do.
