Just recently got to level 80, and had gotten in the habit of specing disc to speed up questing and delves. Decided to switch back to holy since that’s what I was leveling the priest for in the first place, and… am I doing something wrong? As Disc, I can roll right through delves (at least so far on low tiers), but as holy, it’s like watching paint dry.
Is this normal? I don’t feel like there’s a lot of room for error when all there is to do is throw out the occasional heal when needed, and spam smite.
I can’t speak for Discipline but if all you’re doing is throwing out the occasional heal as Holy then something is wrong. I have to be casting constantly on tank Bran just to keep him alive.
I would assume that Discipline can contribute significantly more DPS than Holy though, and that would significantly increase the speed at which a Delve can be done.

Look at the patch notes, for March 25th, and you will see some big buffs coming to Holy Priest.
I find that my Disc does more DPS, and my Holy can do better at SINGLE target heals.
Your mileage may vary
My guess would be due to the fact that Disc heals by dealing damage. So in healing Brann you are contributing actual damage, thus killing things faster.
I just rely on pacifist rig damage and mechasaurs on most healers in delves. Also MC damage on priest, so they all go about the same pace. Much faster clears if you get lucky with more procs of either.
I haven’t even done them as voidweaver+mindbender yet but I imagine it’d be a bit faster.

Just play shadow priest. You’re not really getting the full experience of WoW if you cheese through solo content on a healer. I get it, I love healing and I’ve been healing since WoD. Really though, it’s good to have at least one DPS spec under your belt and delves are great practice where you don’t need to perform to some group level bar.

Dominate mind is huge in delves, it has helped me clear T11 delves at 648-652 iLvl.
Find a controllable/non-Elite target that’s beating the crap out of you or Brann (either visually or via in Details/damage taken after a hard pull/death) and take advantage! Just make sure you fade/fear after it breaks out and reapply DM.
For example, the Ascended Webfriar in Underkeep or the Tainted Feasters in Excavation Site 9, they’ll chip in 20-75mil damage depending on pull size.

Agree! Not only mitigates Brann’s damage intake but adds to the whole damage contribution.
Sometimes I even carry a mob alongside the whole dungeon and dump them right at the end before looting the chests. It’s essential to use something like a Weak Aura to highlight the duration of the MC.
