Unlike every other spell, Phoenix Flames, while being an instant cast, seems to have a certain “delay” to be cast, but it’s not that, it just doesn’t feel as responsive as every other instant cast. Might have something to do with my minimum ms always being 210?
No it’s not just you. I think it’s a spell that’s going to feel better to cast as we get more haste.
In those times in Torghast when you have haste buffs (granted, INSANE haste buffs) it’s as a fluid button push to get it off.
takes about 2 to 3 years to hit the target if youre max range, the gcd is basically over by the time it reaches lol.
that + the fact its replacing our old 6 fireblast combust rotation means it just feels bad to use for anything but spreading ignite.
Maybe the gcd is making it feel clunky for you when mixing it in with fire & pryo blast?
I think for me it’s because Fire Blast hits instantly and Phoenix Flames has a travel time. Using Fire Blast into Hot Streak Pyro feels fluid and fast because the hot streak proc comes immediately, but there’s a delay with phoenix flames due to the flight time.
I am not sure, it feels slightly more than that. I think it might have to do with the animation, as Fire Blast has a short and quick animation while Phoenix Flames has your character simulate the casting animation.
It does feel this way. The travel time is too slow.
To me it’s a combination of several factors have mentioned above:
- PF is usually -part- of a rotation, typically following on the heels of a FireBlast
- It’s usually used during Combustion, where we want casts to happen faster
- The rotations start with the easy, smooth functionality of Instant-Cast FBs that aren’t affected by the GCD
- But then we try to follow up with PF, which is slowed down by the GCD
- On top of that, PF takes a while to even hit a target (made even worse the further away from a target you are whereas FB is instant)
So yeah, we start our super-nitro-omg-i-gotta-go-FAST rotation to do max DPS with a Ferrari to suddenly have it turn into a hiccuping, stuttering broken down Chevy truck.
