Is it just me or does paladin seem more tanky than Blood DK?

I feel like with all the absorbs from azerite traits, shield of the righteous, good strong active mitigation and our multiple self heals I can outheal and outlast a blood DK in most situations. I started ranking my Blood DK up and he was getting curb stomped compared to how strong he was in legion. It could be that he is still not maxe level but my paladins health bar rarely moves even when I pull 20 mobs onto me. It feels stronger than both my warrior and DK characters, very self reliant.

Anyone else feel like we’re doing solid on the upper end, I’m only 380 and admittedly haven’t pressed any of the harder content but I feel invincible in most scenarios or on an island expedition or even soloing high level elites that normally require several people.

I will say solo play on my ret is so much easier than my enh. It’s just one armor grade lower, but my shaman is constantly healing when pulling groups (3+) of enemies. My ret, on the other hand, could pull a group of seven, and never drop below 90%. The ilvl is slightly different, but it’s less than ten.

I’ve been very happy that I chose my pally over my shaman this expansion. Those have been my two main classes since vanilla, and I go back and forth between which is my real main each expansion.

Prot is decent, but once our CDs are down we need to kite for a bit. Plenty of options though, and most fights don’t burn through all your CDs. In open world you can solo nearly anything. Our mitigation is good and self heals are decent enough. We’re middle of the pack (or slightly above) for both raids and M+ - which is good. Don’t see any nerfs coming our way anytime soon

Prot warriors do better aoe dps and have more movement so they’re seeing more attention in M+ atm. BDK are still strong though. AMS and grip are great and their heals are still pretty decent. They just spike a bit more than they used to.

Prot takes less damage than blood but has worse self healing.
The shield tanks tend to take the least overall dmg but have the biggest windows of vulnerability.

Agree 100%. Maybe it’s that I’ve been playing pally a lot more lately, but my paladin virtually feels like a brick wall. With enough haste you can maintain almost 100% uptime on SoTR and when it’s up, you’re extremely safe.

We did a 16 freehold last week on paladin (teeming fort) and I wasn’t worried anywhere at all. Jumped into a 14 freehold later than night to get my alt BDK a key and getting curb stomped would be putting it lightly.

After playing prot for a while it just feels so much better. Run in, drop consecrate, sotr all the mobs for a crap ton of damage/aggro, and have virtually no worries for at least the fist 15 seconds while SoTR is up.

BDK on the other hand, if you don’t have boneshield up you need to get it up asap, then drop a DnD, then blood boil, then death strike because you’ve taken to much dmg already… not to mention aggro will be everywhere when the DPS start going to town… BDK feels awful after prot paladin.

Grip is amazing but honestly shield is amazing as well. That + what feels like an endless supply of utility just makes paladin feel great. Our healer lost power last night in a +12 shrine on the second boss. We still ended up 2 chesting the key… prot paladin is solid. I ended the run with over 100 interrupts.

I Always feel comfortable when Tanking with Paladin, It’s Because i always know if i or some of my teammate messed up, i have tons of ability to save myself or teammate. Only things i miss terribly is Grip of BDK. I used to feel like we are very squishy until i get some decent gear with great Traits. But as Plate wearer and Shield user they should make it a bit Tanky. It would make a huge difference.
