Is it just me, or does MM feel better with more haste?

This is just a personal anecdotet, but it almost seems as if MM feels much better with 13-15% haste, baseline. I know the sims say differently, but having less than 10% haste just feels awful (there’s that word again): steady and aimed shots come out slower.

I had about 13-14% haste before I hit 60, but then I went down the Crit/Mastery route, and it feels…less fluid. I’m now sitting at 10% haste, having taken up Steady Focus just to add more haste to the mix, and am seriously considering reforging my legendary into a crit/haste piece just to get faster casts. Of course, I could just be doing it wrong - I honestly don’t know. The thing is, cast time shouldn’t matter: my damage is determined by my Aimed Shot charges, so I should be hitting harder, not faster.

How about you guys? How’re your haste values looking?

I’ve been sitting at about 14% haste for quite some time now and I will agree the feel of the spec is actually pretty good at that level. Hard not to cap aimed shots during trueshot, but other than that the pace is good. Can’t really remember what it felt like at lower haste though.

It definitely feels better, but it’s just numerically not better than the other stats.

Currently sitting at 12%. Feels fine, though I am running Streamline and Lethal Shots so I get some pseudo-Haste from there as well.

I’m also sitting at 25% crit right now so I’ll start seeing DR, I’m simming upgrades but I expect to lean more Haste/Mastery to avoid losses to DR as my ilvl increases.

7-9% is my sweet spot for haste, anything more and you risk capping Aimed Shots before you have a chance to spend even a single Precise Shot proc (during Trueshot)

Is it bad that I completely forego Precise Shots while TSA is up? It’s just straight up Aimed Shots and Rapid Fire from me.

Not practical by any means anecdote from me. Did torgast and got up to 90% haste. Holy crap that felt amazing. Having like a 1.3 cast normal aim shot just felt so good. Makes me wish they’d bring down the base cast time by like .5 seconds. Steady shots were so fast I didn’t get stuck casting them while trying to use the rest of skills. I actually had good focus gen outside true shot.

The MM spec just feels so much better when you have time to attack AND move around.

While Crit and Mastery is the most benefitable stats, Haste is also a must once you have like… 25% crit, then the rest goes into haste because your cast time is so horrific, I realized that myself and it feels better too.

You should be using all your Aimed Shots and Rapid Fires, and fill any empty GCDs with Arcane or Multi provided you still have enough Focus for Aimed.

If you don’t have enough Haste to have the Focus for Arcane you should be ignoring Precise Shots.

Cast times aren’t much different, if any, at 7% or 14% Haste.
Yes, I like being faster, but it seems to me it pays better to invest in Mastery.

You also get shorter AiS cooldown and more passive Focus.

This just shows how badly this game needs to have all the casts reduced by half a second and the gcd cut in half.

low haste feels like trash in any class.

I’d like it if hunters were given a baseline 1 second GCD like some other classes get. There’s some classes it feels fine on to have a slower gcd like Arms Warrior, but on Hunter it just feels really bad.

Wouldn’t help much for MM at least TBH, you’d just introduce more Steady/Arcane filler cycles. Unless they also cut the AiS/RF CDs and buff Focus generation along with it.

BM would just introduce more empty GCDs, since Cobra casts are hard limited by Focus and their active regen is on a cooldown.

All classes and specs feel better with haste. Maybe not optimised. But feeling good.

How’s that. With faster GCD I have no problem bumping off the two before the next aimed. If you’re running out of focus…well haste increases that generation eh. At high haste it’s all good

Why the necro?
