Is it just me or are the graphics being updated gradually?

It seems like with every major patch the graphics seem to be…improving?

Maybe it’s just me but the lighting definitely seems better…same with the RTX shadows…

Are they ninja updating things behind the scenes or is this some form of placebo effect?

Yes, I play with RTX on and set to High.

They are for sure making the UI and such shinier and such from what I’ve seen. I know when your queue pops for heroics and such the icons look a lot better for each role

I don’t play on anything fancy and can see the changes also

They are. It’s a subtle but overdue change that they don’t broadcast. A few patches ago they did a lighting change that actually shows proper light reflection direction on character eyes. It even works on mounts(at least in Dragonflight). So yes, you are correct.

Warcraft is old. It’s graphics are 20yrs of coding. There isn’t going to be a regression.

Yes they have been, including animal models like the hyena’s and gnolls. They don’t mention it because the classic community gets upset when you can’t see the individual pixels on their models. Just try making a thread about updating racial mounts to current pixulated detail and watch them get really angry. WTB New Belf Paladin mount model.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s mentioned in the miscellaneous/bugfix part of the patchnotes, but who actually reads those?

There’s always been a background of little updates. A monster model here or there. Water textures. Skyboxes.

There’s sometimes a creepy phase some times where it feels like the game is gaslighting me with little changes.

(Whether or not there are more happening now with DF’s ambitious timetable, I don’t know)

Maybe this explain why, when i’m at Azure Span, everything far away looks like made of paper and super foggy. It started since the launch of Fractures in Time.
My graphic card is old, it’s getting hard for it work, cause of these improvements.

Now that I don’t know. I do know they said something about fog distances changing. It wasn’t like that a while back unless you were on lower graphics. Guess they’re trying something new.

We are already playing WoW 2. It just happened gradually.

The lighting effects and shaders in particular have gotten a lot better.

That would explain why my gpu fan sounds like helicopter

Right? I’ve had to wear my headset some days just to drown out the noise.

Don’t count on it.

It is. I guess one day I’ll have to buy a new PC. I’m on a decade old motherboard that isn’t compatible with any good components. I used to be able to play on like 4 or 5 level graphics settings, but now I need to play on level 1 and just turn on/up the settings that let me see mechanics. I should start saving, because next expac probably won’t be playable for those of us running dinosaurs.

I got mine when pandaland came out so that’s about 9 -10 years ago,i can still play on setting 6 without major issues. but will have to build or buy new one soon as well.
Its sucks right now just gpu costs more than my whole build did 10 years ago.

They are. I just wish they’d fix some character models.

Like female tauren have an awful run cycle compared to classic, their mouths always hang open and one shoulder has misplaced anchors or something so shoulder armor clips into their chests and the side of their head.

Six ain’t too bad! Even ten years ago my PC wasn’t anything special, just a prebuilt tower I got for a couple hundred bucks. I’ve got so much value out of it really, this thing has been worth every cent. And you’re right about prices right now. That’s the whole reason I still have this old thing. The only thing I use my PC for is WoW and it still (barely) runs it so I’ll probably just save a bit until it stops working entirely.

Prices aren’t going down. You think Nvidia and AMD are going to take a cut when it’s been proven players will pay $1600+ for a single card (and not even during the best of times lol)?

Mine was prebuild as well i paid like 600$ for it upgraded gpu to 1060 years ago and it has been trooper.
