Is it in poor taste to call out in general

Is it in poor taste to call out in general for people that do the following. It kind of feels like if we dont start publicly naming these people, their poor attitudes towards others will continue and we will end up with a retail attitude

1.steal nodes that you were clearly killing for.
2. Taking treasures that you were fighting for.
3. Leaving groups when they finish even if you are not.

At this point i have seen it quite a bit. One person actually responded to me when i asked why they hit the node that i was fighting on top of. He said i wanted the points. Im like ok. Go fight for one.

You can call out whoever you want, no one is stopping you. But most people are going to either a) think you’re petty, or b) just not care and forget the name 3 seconds later.

Yes. It’s absolute cringe worthy, and no one actually cares.

You’re level 25. Nothing you can possibly obtain at that level is worth raising a stink about., especially when you’re talking about resource nodes and chests. Haha.

Yes, it’s poor taste. I just feel like that’s why we have a Report button :woman_shrugging:

Ok. Its why im asking. Its just happening so often that its aggravating

The three examples you gave are extremely petty.

If you have to call out someone in a public chat, IMO it needs to be for something truly egregious, like scamming.

Who hasn’t left general chat? It’s a cesspool.

I keep LFG in a separate chat window so I can experience the cesspool trolls, but keep my primary channel free of that nonsense.

I don’t leave any General Chats. Sometimes the conversations are interesting. Also, if somebody needs help, I can usually spot it and help them and vice versa. Half the time, I just tune out the noise and only look for important words like “LFM” or “LFG”.

Don’t be that guy, Karen.

  1. nodes are not yours until you mine/herb them
  2. treasure is not yours until you open the chest
  3. the group does not live or die because you wish they did or did not

Welcome to wow? This isn’t new and until shared nodes in legion people would take nodes you were clearing to. When flying was introduced it made it even worse. I suppose you could join a PvP server and just kill them?

People also tended to do it to mobs before multi tagging was enabled and to me that was worse than taking my node. You clear all the way to the named mob you need to kill for your quest, killing the last one before your mob and Bam someone runs in and tags it.

I will be honest, im a little surprised that people think its normal and ok to do this.

If i see someone fighting by a node, i help out. When they are done i ask if they were farming it or passing by. If they were, i move on.

Obviously I dont want to call people out, but im surprised that its accepted the way it is. Seems like common courtesy to not do it

Thats actually how it was done back in the day. The undesirables were shunned and some were doing it so often that we would see thatNameAgain and laugh

I know this is probably gonna come off as a surprise but the world does not revolve around you.

Don’t change how you do it. You’re on an RP server and you’ll get a good rep among your peers.

I personally never steal nodes. But it’s how things are. People get competitive.

It’s just that calling people out in public chat for this kind of low-level issue is really silly.

There’s this thing called Karma…

Someone can’t steal a node from you, until the contents of said node is in your bag, it’s not yours.

Same rule applies here.

These things are in the open world, just because you believe you seen it first or are somehow entitled to it, doesn’t in anyway make it yours.

Until an item/node etc is physically in your bag, it’s not yours.

There are no rules that dictate a person has to stick it out with you once their objective has been met. They clearly only joined with the group intending to further along their goals and once finished was ready to move on.

Is it a selfish thing? maybe. But they’re allowed to come and go as they please as there are no silly rules forcing someone at gunpoint to play with others.

It’s their subscription money and their time. They have the same amount of rights to grab those chests/nodes or leave a group whenever they please as you do.
