Is It Griefing (and ban-able) when

The PvP rules didn’t change just because there is warmode now. What exactly do you think you are getting that sweet extra xp for in the first place. You rolled on Dalaran a PvE server, yet are turning on warmode for the bonus.

Because I get the sense that OP won’t click the link I provided to Blizzard’s policies on PvP ‘harassment’:

All players can actively choose when they wish to engage in PvP combat.

The following actions may be considered dishonorable but are considered legitimate PvP tactics and will not be addressed by our Game Master staff:

  • Corpse camping
  • Killing players well below your level

World of Warcraft

In World or Warcraft you can enable or disable War Mode in the talents interface while in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. If you do not wish to engage in PvP combat, do not activate War Mode.

War Mode allows open combat between players of opposing factions that have opted in to PvP (Player versus Player). Players that activate War Mode are encouraged to resolve cross-faction disputes on their own. The Game Master staff will not intervene in PvP disputes.

World of Warcraft Classic

If you do not wish to engage in regular PvP combat in Classic, select a Player versus Environment (PvE) realm. PvE realms offer a limited and structured environment for PvP encounters. Players on PvE realms can actively choose when they wish to engage in PvP combat by enabling or disabling their PvP flag at will.

The following actions may be considered dishonorable but are considered legitimate PvP tactics and will not be addressed by our Game Master staff:

  • Corpse camping.
  • Tricking players into getting flagged for PvP (i.e. jumping in the middle of another player’s area effect spell).
  • Killing players well below your level.

Level 1 player, whispering you “You suck at PvP, go unsubscribe from the game” and other whispers repeatedly. That is harassment.

They did in the sense there are no PvP Severs, every player can opt in (in capital cities) and opt out at any time in rest zones.

These players are preventing people from opting out because they are repeatedly killing players in an organized manor preventing them from reaching a rest zone to turn WM off. It would probably take me 3 hours to corpse crawl and finally reach an area to turn off War Mode.

Walk to a Spirit Healer in another zone.

Somewhat vaugely related: One time there was a bug that prevented Worgen from rezzing at their corpse sometimes, and it happened to me after getting killed in Grizzly Hills. So I ghost walked to Wintergrasp to use the BG-style healer to avoid durability loss.

That’s why I sometimes move on to a different toon and let them look for me, but I’m not there.

Right-click, Report for > Language.
/ignore player-realm
Move on with your life.

If they bypass the ignore, submit a ticket for ongoing harassment.

They have a presence in the 2 adjoining zones. Also killing people there.

Different realm, same message similar name.

They aren’t going to be there FOREVER. Just do something else and you cease to be their entertainment and they will leave earlier. All it literally takes is 15 minutes everyone involved logging off and they will get bored and leave.

I keep logging back on their still there. For all we know they have mobile phones and are playing hearthstone while waiting for more lowbies to kill… you all have mobile phones right?

The point is they can be there for an indefinite point in time and since they are all in the same guild are likely in a discord to keep them from getting bored.

Go back and read my edit.

It’s not ongoing harassment unless you’ve taken steps to prevent contact (by ignoring them) and they’ve circumvented those steps. And it’s not harassment at all if you respond to them in any way. That makes it a conversation.

They aren’t going to be their forever. I guarantee you they won’t. There is enough of you involved you already set a pattern so they might not be gone until tomorrow.

Just get on early tomorrow - hearth back to where ever and turn warmode off and never turn it back on again.

As I’ve said prior, I enjoy WPvP, I love when in Nazj we get a nice battle going between New Home and Mez and pushing players back, and having a whole group of players scouring the map and dying and killing and getting a bounty on your head. If it gets bad or you want to opt out its easy to.

This isn’t the case with what im talking about its pure griefing and harrassment.

Also probably not good idea to tell people to never turn WM on again… just like saying to people unsub from the game.

What they’re doing could be considered zone disruption if it’s been going on a long time.

The making alts to mock you thing is absolutely harassment, report that.

Corpse dragging is an art form. I’m glad I learned it at a young age. In 2 hours you could have dragged it to another major city.

“Long time” is measured in days, if history is any evidence.

The PvP part? Classic WPvP. The PvP response is to summon an appropriate counter-raid of max levels of your faction.

The whispers? Probably actionable as harassment. Certainly reportable. And if the reports come in fast enough, the harassers’ accounts can be frozen on the spot, removing strength from the gank party. (Not likely; the wheels of justice in GM Land turn exceedingly slowly, IME, but not impossible.)

You don’t enjoy wPvP. You enjoy the rewards.

And fine turn warmode back on, I don’t care, I just hope you never make a thread complaining about what happens in warmode again.

A lot of people don’t think you should be able to opt when when it gets bad.

No I actually do enjoy WPvP, I will finish my weekly kill 25 in Nazj quest and still do WPvP there for a few more hours. Its fun going into New Home/Meze with a bunch of other players and running a muck for the opposite faction to come back in force, push us back out to that crossroad area and eventually push us back and vice versa. I do enjoy WPvP.

However I dont consider a full raid group of max level players terrorizing helpless lowbies for over 3 hours spawn camping them WPvP.

Also they just left the zone a few moments ago, so must be raid night or something, that or I went into a different shard.

War Mode happened on War Mode.

This is what wPvP is.

And, I am guessing you don’t understand that moving to a different shard isn’t the answer but whatever, I don’t think even you would come back to this thread and complain about this again after refusing to turn off warmode.

I have WM on pretty much all the time unless I’m about to start doing M+/Raid and don’t want to deal with people camping dungeon entrances. Then I turn WM on right after.
