I’m not sure if this tooltip is bugged or what but my blade dance does hilariously low dmg unless I talent both first blood and trail of ruin, plus its physical and cost 35 fury… really confused whether I should just be a chaos strike spambot or Im missing something. Should I only press it during meta or not even then?

In 3+ target scenarios yes. Otherwise, unless talented into FB or ToR, no it’s not worth it.
ok I thought so, thats really boring. Anyway in legion it also had a dodge mechanic but I notice its been taken out or is that just a tooltip bug? I guess they really hated dh using more than 1 button

Until you get Chaos Digits leggo, it’s pretty much only good for aoe. At that point you want to use it to proc chaos strike and get short cooldown on eyebeam.
Ah yes a legendary that reinforces the 1 button rotation , I should have known.
This is true but it should be pointed out that First Blood is the superior talent on that tier in both ST and AoE. Anything else is a DPS loss, so while it is true that blade dance sucks if you don’t have FB, there is really no scenario where you should be taking anything else with or without digits.
Not sure where you’re getting that at because CoH combined with Anguish is quite literally the best you can be in AOE.
Chaos and FB is ironically only for ST to buff Annihilate. Especially considering FB is geared towards more ST right in its own talent description.

That “may” be true in AoE while using the Anguish Legendary, i’d have to sim that to verify…but in raid and PvP I wouldn’t go that route, only in M+ would I think that be valuable assuming it’s as good as you claim.

Digits + FB: 10590 dps, 4742 dps to main target
Digits + CoH: 10376 dps, 4358 dps to main target
Anguish + FB: 11310 dps, 4602 dps to main target
Anguish + CoH: 11051 dps, 4025 dps to main target
First Blood performed better regardless of Chaos Theory or Collective Anguish Legendaries.
Yeah, no. FB/ToR are used with the Chaos Theory legendary for single target. AoE/Cleave it’s better to play CoH & Glaive Tempest with the Collective Anguish legendary. There’s even a “new” ST build that uses ToR and CoH with Chaos Theory for single target. Tons of info in the DH discord about all of it. Things seem to keep changing as the gear progresses though.

Well I ran the sims and it says otherwise, and again, AoE builds are mainly for high M+ keys, I think PvP and raiding are more common for the average player. Regardless, my sims all show FB as better, regardless if you use GT or ToR with it and regardless of which legendary you use. Just because some other DHs come up with builds that they feel are better doesn’t mean it’s the best. CoH is RNG based so you could get really lucky have an awesome night with it, or get horribly unlucky with it as well. FB is at least consistent and on average performs much better.
Everyone is free to use raidbots or simcraft or target dummies and test builds out for themselves, you don’t have to take my word for it.
All I can say is all evidence I have seen in practice and in simulations show First Blood always superior.
I run the 121x121 build - works pretty good.
You can run sims all you like. You seem to forget sims rely on you playing perfectly and not having to deal with mechanics. So no, just don’t.
A sim is not an actual boss fight. A target dummy is not a raid or remotely dangerous environment.

The only time Blade Dance is worth pushing is when you have the Chaos Theory legendary in order to get more chaos strike damage in single-target.
Without that specific legendary, running Cycle of Hatred and spamming chaos strike to reduce eye beam cd is better in every scenario.

Blind Fury, Burning Hatred, Trail of Ruin, Cycle of Hatred, Demonic. Using the Chaos Theory Legendary.
So, even with un-traited Blade Dance, you hope for a proc and then go ham on chaos strike?
I’ll have to give it a go. I’ve been using felblade, demon’s bite, ToR, first blood, unbound and momentum/demonic (when fel rush isn’t advisable). I like it so far
1/2/1/x/1/2/1(cycle of hatred) build OR 3/3/1/x/2/2/1(fel blade, demon blades, first blood) both sim as top single target depending on your characters specific Stat spread. There is basically no meaningful difference between the two other than a slight adjustment in playstyle.
Using the chaos theory legendary of course.
In either situation if you don’t have a legendary proc currently then you are pressing blade dance on cooldown to get one.
I personally like it over FB/DB build because I don’t feel as fury starved. Obv the RNG playstyle DH has to deal with sucks but when you get a decent amount of CT procs its insane cause you are in meta a lot when/if it happens.
