Is it enough

I know this question will get various responses but my husband knew how much I wanted to get back into WOW (left in 2013) and decided to get me a laptop, he’s not a gamer and didn’t realize that WOW had specific specs (though this was very nice of him). Either way it’s been purchased, but want to make sure I can play the latest XP without concerns.

He bought me an Alienware M17 R3
10th Generation Intel Core i7-10875H (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
1TB (2x 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD) RAID0 [Boot] + 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD [Storage]
32GB DDR4 2666MHz
NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2070 SUPER™ 8GB GDDR6
Killer™ Ethernet E3000 10/100/1000Mbps/2.5Gbps NIC

TIA

you are good to go

Edit: if that laptop is like my alienware laptop, FPS cap that thing while you play wow, or else it will heat right the F up

Edit: actually FPS cap every game you play cause u dont need to play at 130 frames anyway just have that thing sit at 90 degree celcius

That’s pretty close to what I have. You can play at max settings in 1440p at like over 100fps

Not really current and could even be cause issues with the game client.
If the laptop is new it should have windows 10

/Never mind I looked up that model, it reads “Windows 10 Home”

Yu have a solid gaming laptop. Enjoy the freedom of not being locked to a desk.

Definitely. That’s better than my laptop I game on and it can run high-settings with no issues.

You just need a laptop fan to keep the laptop from overheating.

Good to go.

Who came here expecting a different topic though?

This. Get a cooling pad. They are like $15-$25 bucks and will save your laptop from going molten on you.

Yes I thought I should check out the specs on the website and then updated my reply. It’s a very good gaming laptop.

Currently you’re about 2 I’s ahead (SL recommends Intel 5, you’re currently at 7), SSD (which it has), 32 GB is DEFINTIELY more than enough (8 is minimum 16 is optimal, 32 is way overkill in the GB department you’ll be good for another expansion or two at that rate) and 1 TB is massive in terms of data containment…

Other than overheating you’ll be golden for a looooong while in terms of machine efficiency and function. To put it in perspective the human brain is measured in memory capacities from several dozen Terabytes to Petabytes…

should be good to go, probably could play other games with those specs as well. You might get a little space anxiety with only 1tb on space but that should be fine.

I…uh…what…but…

I cant tell if this is real or bragging…? Your rig is FAR MORE than adequate…I almost didnt read the specs once i saw “alienware”

EDIT to add: also just want to bump what others have said…PROPER COOLING is ESSENTIAL! especially with a stacked laptop…whatever you do, DO NOT put that bad boy on your bare lap for an extended period of time…burned my leg once…

I’ll say, I’ve been window shoppin myself and anything 1TB 16 GB is 1,000 2,000 dollars on the cheap end, I’d imagine 32 GB would be like $3,000+

Doesn’t matter if it is or not. I want one of those now.

Agreed. My desktop is over 10 years old, although ive been updating components as needed, and its def enough for WoW. But ive been wanting a gaming laptop for travel. OPs new rig sounds quite nice.
