Is it difficult to rank up in PVP as a healer?

not at all.
I was rank 10 disc. priest undead healer.
I never felt disadvantaged in any way.

on if your team’s dps is bad

Healers get less honor.

When you kill someone you get honor points

Healers do not kill people.

Its easier becuase its HK based and you can stabd at the back and run away and not die and HK farm.

That’s only true if you’re doing wpvp without being in a group. The Contribution Points from HKs get split evenly between players that participated in a kill.

Killing Blows don’t matter.

It’s the same as ranking as a dps, just different playstyle. Your rank is based on how much honor you are farming each week in relation to how much honor everyone else is farming. If you play healer and get chain wins all day long you will have an easy time ranking. If you are losing games all the time or not playing enough, it will be very difficult to reach whatever rank you are aiming for.

You have to do damage to share in the honor for the kill. For some stupid reason healing someone in combat doesn’t get you included in that.

You only need to be near the target that gives the HK in order to receive credit. You don’t need to be in combat, deal damage, or get the killing blow.

Source: Level 1 twinks that would mass farm players at GYs with high level alts.

Only if you suck.

Edit: wow, there are so many wrong answers in this post it isn’t funny. If you don’t know something, you can google it.

Honor points are shared among party members. In BGs honor points are shared.

Wrong.

Not at all. I switched from deeps to heals (from rogue to resto druid) for a while and found it easier to rank up as my healer. Rogue I was always sent out on special missions, assasinate the flag carrier, take the mines, see if you can ninja stables, etc. Heals, especialy with hots, I just had to stick with a group and toss heals, and earn risidual honor.

not saying one is easier vs. the other, but just different. PvP is more about the time you put in more than anything else.

In battlegrounds, proximity to the kills awards honor.

Which is why guarding bases in AB is never done, because you’ll get no honor for large chunks of the game

I reached knight-captain as holy, always seemed to have about as many HK’s as anyone and I sure as heck wasn’t out blowing anyone up.

Same, took me a little longer than most because I usually spent time guarding in AB and later AV, someone had to do it!

Cries in hunter

Yeah. I remember the " heal me " cries in BG’s and then letting them know if they wanted it they could come help with the objective rather than flailing around for nothing in the middle of a BG

Originally, healing someone did not get you any honor points, that was changed later because healers WERE at a disadvantage when it came to grinding out the honor system. The original implementation only had damage dealt qualifying you for honor point rewards on the target’s death.

I dont know what state it’ll be in for classic, though I would assume it will include the change that healing is counted as participation for a kill.
