Is it best to use the catalyst on PvP epics?

Hello,

I’ve been playing WoW for a long time as a Retribution Paladin. I’ve been picking up PvP through solo queue Rated Battleground Blitz. It’s been a great experience that I can’t believe I’ve been missing for so long. I don’t even know when this feature came out!

Anyway, I was looking online at guides to see what the best PvP gear is, and it seems like they make different suggestions. I specifically want to know for sure if it’s better for my spec to use the epic Prized Gladiator gear obtained from the vendor, or if it’s better to upgrade that to the Aureate Sentry gear at the Catalyst.

It seems like I’d lose Versatility which is important, but I’d gain the set bonus. I’m not sure how important that is in PvP, though.

I’m also curious about what the best balance is for the secondary stats, if anyone has any good suggestions there.

Also, if it matters, I’m currently using a Herald of the Sun build. I think it’s better than Templar right now, but I’m not sure of that either.

Thank you for the suggestions!

tl;dr better to upgrade pvp gear with catalyst or no?

In pvp, for Ret you DO want your 4 set, specs like MM really dont need their 4 set as it is mediocre and even 2 set, as it is terrible. I decided to use the catalyst for testing the two set and now regret it, and I cant change the gear back to what it was, just have to spend more conquest later.

Edit: after the Explosive Shot Buff on Tuesday, it may be best to have 4 set for pvp for MM, if only marginally better, but it could be worse still as MM tier does 25% of pve tooltip damage.
