Is it bad if level a human mage?

Are human mages frowned upon? Or will still be able to find groups?

There are lots of human mages around. You’ll definitely find a group. Gnomes are smarter, cooler and funnier, but if you insist on playing a human, you’ll be fine.

You can level whatever you like. Most people won’t care you are min-maxed for groups especially to the level of race selection.

Outside of maybe some sort of RP-type requirements, the only race/class combination that I’ve ever seen as mandatory is dwarf-priest, and then only for some guilds or raid groups. Fear ward is very helpful for some fights.

^ This appears to be true.

Should be all right. No one cares about races in raids. Only one that matters is being human for warrior to avoid glancing blows due to weapon skill. And even that isn’t a deal breaker.

That was literally the thing I played through Vanilla and TBC and I still have that character now in SL.

I never had someone balk at the fact that I was playing a human.

If someone refuses to allow you to group with them based on the toon you’re playing, you’re better off not grouping with them.

Humans in WoW aren’t really bad at anything. Diplomacy gives you at 10% bonus to your rep gains, which makes any content that’s gated behind a required rep that much easier to attain. If you’re planning on moving onto TBC, you need to hit revered with said faction in order to run the heroic version of the dungeon that’s attached to them, and humans have a distinct advantage there.

Leveling a human mage is dumb. Honest.

Play whatever you’d like. Outside fringe cases (Dwarf Priest is pretty true) it doesn’t matter in any situation.

Human it’s great for mages .

At 60 the bonus 7 intel gnomes get is minor, the race class combos that matter on ally are

Rouge/warrior/ret-prot paladin = human because of the extra +5 to weapon skill making it easier to hit cap

Dwarf priest for fear ward

Though it’s not a hard rule, our Nax clears only use one dwarf priest, but alot of human rogues and warriors

Some people consider Human Mages to be better than gnome mages in TBC because of their spirit racial.

If you roll a human mage, you are required to say '‘HUAH’ out loud every time you enter combat.

It’s the law.
