Is it against the rules to run an automated auction house scanner on two dozen realms?

It isn’t even needed outside of the game. Online fansites scan the entries on the AH to give information like average prices across the realms, the cheapest realm, the most expensive realm.

It might slow sniping down a little bit, but it wouldn’t eliminate it. That would be offset by how long it would take to scan/post/buy things on the AH, as the scanning of the AH content would have to be done server-side and couldn’t be offloaded onto players’ computers.

You people are the worst. When I say scanning, I of course am talking about the scanning I opened with in the title, the automated kind. See tsm’s sniper, ans sniper, anything that can perform a repeatable scan. I know, this might be too much for you to get and it’s a waste of time to even argue my point.

Sorry, I don’t understand what your point is here. I’m not talking about third party sites, so why is it being brought up?

That’s what tends to happen when there is an ongoing discussion about a subject. There is sometimes a deviation that ventures into related aspects of it, as part of that discussion.

Venturing into insulting language is entirely unnecessary so I think we’ll be ending this particular thread since it has otherwise been addressed.
