Is it a waste of time trying to get mythic+ title in pugs?

I don’t really have time to look around for a mythic raiding guild and because of that it is hard to find a good enough M+ team that will be willing to take me. I have been working on the mythic+ title this season but I am starting to wonder if it is just a pipe dream; something impossible. The 15s were a barrier for abit but as people got geared I was able to push to the 20s. But now the success rate is even lower. I am not sure if I need to work on filtering players or if pugs are just not capable of M+ title level of gameplay. Playing with the same people everyday helps it is possible that the content is designed to reward that much more over just random hard working players putting teams together. Your thoughts?

If you’re wanting to do 20s then at that point to do it with a guild.

Trying to reach the 0.1% ranking for the achievement. It’d probably require 27+ or even higher keys in pugs

Build your own team.

From the players you meet that are good. Or those willing to learn. And train them.

This season is atrocious to pug compared to last

if you’re going for the 1% title I doubt it’s doable w/ pugs. Just the pool of players openly pugging at the level is pretty low or non-existance

The latter

I wouldn’t ask anyone here because no one is 3.2k+!!

It depends on how much you value your sanity.

Yeah that’s what makes me think that I should give up. Even if I could somehow pull it off it would take an insane amount of time and patience. People in 20s sometimes don’t know basic mechanics.

M+ gets to the point where you need coordination, a plan, and a lot of practice as a group.

IMHO, right now that point is too low. It might be justified to compensate for how much easier it is to get 4 competent players for 30 minutes than it is to get 24 for a couple of hours, but I think that’s a social problem with raiding that shouldn’t be solved with game play by making M+ more of a pain.

I did it( had one friend)

Might be technically possible in pugs, but is very likely to be quite un-fun, and take a lot longer to make any noticeable progress.

Depends, if your going for the top % title, probabaly not happening, if your going for KSH or portals, its very possible, puged my way to 2450 rating so far doing 1 night of pug raiding per week and 1 to 2 nights of M+ per week

Just throwing this out there. Everyone I personally know (4 people) with s1 title pugged it all. But once you start getting into 25s or so it seems like you consistently run into the same people in lfg which I think it could make it a little less pug.

20s are the old 15s. Totally doable this season in pugs. Beyond that if you’re actually trying to get the end of season title you definitely need a group as those are well beyond 20.

“I want to be in the top 0.1% of players. Can I do this without a dedicated team?”

No.

It’s possible but a pain. You gotta have a thick skin and focus on improving your own performance slowly. If you do it will happen.

However, I recommend finding a community or guild. Streamer communities have been great for me. Not the raffle guys, although they are fun, but the low viewer count streamers who run keys with their community.

I like krowten over on kick myself. He’s very accessible, and will explain things if you’re new. We time a lot of keys, but not all, and we aren’t afraid to run lower keys if that’s where someone is at that point in their journey.

As someone who pugged to not only 0.1% but almost 3500 last season it’s definitely possible but it’s incredibly ill advised. Especially if you’re new to m+ or your class as I have to make some assumptions you are given you were finding 15s initially to be a struggle.

What typically happens at the title range is that the player pool narrows enough that you recognise people, especially those who do pugs and pug consistently. You need to go get to 3k and start playing in and around with those players early and gradually improve your score as the season goes on.

Alright thanks. Good advice. I decided to hold off for now but may jump back into it later
