The effect on the boots is worth a lot of ilvl. It’s not necessarily a large number in the grand scheme of things, maybe 50-60k on 4.5-5.5 million dps, but it’s value that you can’t otherwise have and boots with them are a lot better than boots without.
Also I suspect personally that the effect will be added as an enchant scroll acquired through some means in 11.2.5. The effect is coded very uniquely and even has a real name when you look at the spell data instead of just an ID number or being an inherent property of the item.
TLDR: Boots with the effect are better than any boots without the effect almost regardless of ilvl, but the total value of the proc isn’t necessarily that large compared to the huge amounts of damage we’re doing with current gear.
My Sims (Top Gear) is asking me to choose this Champion track gear over Heroic Track Gear from other slots from the Vault. It’s like 100k DPS higher as AoE on any of my DPS specs whereas upgrading my Tier Gear from Champion to Hero only improves my DPS by as much as 10k DPS.
Yes. Having a pair of boots with the proc is going to be a bigger individual upgrade. Also there’s no difference in strength between champion and hero track items unless you’re investing gilded crests into them, which you should generally be trying to avoid.
the sims are a fairly safe guide as to what to pick if you are looking for the gains. something else to consider is that the tier, along with catalyst are fairly common but the boots may not be, i have not seen them in my vault yet for example. rare items with special properties could be thought of like trinkets, if ur bis trinket came up in vault would you take that or the tier upgrade
I think many would, but I don’t necessarily mind having strong raid loot if there’s ways to get it later down the line.
The effect is called Reshii’s grace, so I expect we’ll be getting “Scroll of Reshii’s grace” or something similar from some activity the same way we did the DISC belt and Cyrce’s Circlet.
Acquisition of the specific gear certainly matters. So, I am a fan of mid-season turbo.
But, another issue with having cantrip-type BIS loot in many slots is that gearing becomes a bit boring in my opinion. Also, alternative loot becomes much less meaningful due to the significant difference in power.
Oh absolutely. Between cantrip weapons for casters, boots, tier set, DISC belt, two crafted items, and a surprisingly sparse selection of jewellery this tier I’m REALLY lacking in viable items from vault.
Can always go tank and just not use them anyway cuz unless you’re doing like absolute max keys, the effect won’t really do much cuz that shield rarely gets eaten
