Is Inscription still trash?

I just made a new character who may turn into a main. And I have most profs covered as far as what I need… He’s a Nightborne hunter and I am kind of thinking of doing Inscription/Herb mostly because I need herb for alchemy anyway on another character and I do not have a scribe at all and OMG the racial 5 extra points??? What a game changer. Might as well right?

Anyway is this profession still trash or have things been looking brighter since dragon flight? I don’t have an eng either though I forgot about that after writing this but I really don’t like that profession all expansions just have too many mats :frowning:

oh my god, i forgot inscription was even a thing :frowning:

Well, I have an inscriptionist so I can make missives and treatises for my toons… lol

You use it to make staves and offhands for the casters. BIS is the crafted staff or crafted offhand+mythic 1hand on several specs when the embellishment is added in. Other than that its used for treatises and contracts this time around. It doesn’t have a lot of use outside of those things. The darkmoon cards are usually only relevant early in the expac before m+/raiding opens up so those are dead knowledge points.

That’s a common theme amongst several trade skills. Their tertiary benefits aren’t really there anymore. Alchemy is the one I don’t make a character without because of the extra duration, and the ability to use concentration + lower quality mats to make r3 consumables. Engineering used to have some extra benefit with lower failure chances on the combat res item when combined with knowledge points in Dragonflight, but even that’s gone.

Inscription is underrated af this xpac, huge gains crafting treatise and vantus runes (especially when people send you rank 3 mats for their treatise instead of rank 1, big ups on them resourcefulness procs). Plus every caster WILL swing by your profession at some point to make a staff or offhand.

It’s ok. The popularity of the Vagabond’s Bounding Baton makes Inscription somewhat profitable this xpac. I got into Inscription initially last year to make glyphs, but the only ones so far this xpac are rogue glyph recipes bought on the Siren Isles that are soulbound.

My scribe is Nightborne too; I did a faction change from human and didn’t know about the racial benefit so got lucky. If there some big benefit tho I dont see it too much. The profs heavy reliance on codified greenwood and boundless cipher is too much of a pain IMO. YMMV. If vantus runes are profitable I’ll try to get into them.

every profession is trash. this whole new df>tww profession system is trash.

i dont think it is. people have been making lots of gold doing inscription

Every character i play that can use the inscription staff does, some even use 2 of them with different stats (from missives also made by inscriptionists).

Progression raiders use vantus runes weekly.

Inscription is the only profession that can craft knowlege points and they can do it for every profession.

Inscription can still make money on old content by creating glyphs that are always in demand.

Inscriptionists make some of the most used embellishments. These can be freely sold on the AH or created on demand.

I recently dropped inscription for enchanting on my priest but i made myself sleep on it first.
