Seriously tired of Melee class. Would like to try out a ranged class. Leaning hard towards hunter. I miss my pets I farmed from years ago!
What is going to be the best PvP spec?
I’ve ALWAYS enjoyed the simplicity of BM hunter. I like easy rotation specs!
However, throughout BFA I’ve pretty much eaten hunters alive on my melee classes I’ve played. Will hunter continue to get F’d by melee in SL?
I have played Rogue as main since vanilla and have also dabbled in DK and Warrior. Hunter is the only ranged class I can stand. Maybe it’s because I love animals and don’t enjoy wearing dresses, so other casters are immediately disqualified.
I need a lazy mans choice class/spec.
A class I can home after working 10-12hours. Hop on run some BG’s, M+, raids or low CR Arenas and still excel at without having to think too hard. I’m usually ready to relax and unwind. I have a stress filled job, and don’t want a stressful rotation.

It’s always been top 3 in best for world content, being able to solo quests/dungeon bosses where it’d take 2+ ppl to do so. Plus how many pets we have is quite fun if you know what you can or should get. It’s rotations are lacking, so pretty lazy for being op rn ,having 5 abilities on one spec and like 3 on another.
Ran some BG’s just now. Nvm…hunters are straight garbage in PvP. Very little heals. No real self sustain…melee will just take smelly dumps on you all BG.
Miserable to play imo. Doesn’t bring much special to the table. I’d rather stay Ret.
Hunters have NO ability to kite like the use to. I remember back in MoP…I could kite melee for days…now? Ha! Not a chance!!!
Next I’ll be sampling Resto Shammy.
They’re better in Arenas because of being able to outrun you and keeping you away.
BM is fine for PVE, MM has been a boring mess, and if you don’t want to play melee you’ll probably pass on SV spec.
For PVP, BM isn’t very bursty. Kill command hits quite a bit weaker in PVP than PVE which really blows. You won’t really out DPS a good DPS class or higher geared player. On the plus side you can deal all your damage on the run. If you’re good at using traps and other few utility abilities we have, you can be a pest to your enemies.
MM PVP offers more burst with aimed and sniper shot talent. You don’t have a great way for dealing with melees who lock you down, you’re pretty much a glass cannon. If you pick your spots however you can pump up some great damage.
Neither BM or MM are as good in PVP as they have been in the past IMO with the lousy changes to our class last few expansions. Not sure I expect hunters to be all that great in SLs either unfortunately.
They’re not that bad in PVP if your team isn’t terrible. I find them quite enjoyable in BGs when the rest of the team is playing well and you get to do what you excel at.
Yea. I agree… They don’t look very good for SL from what I’m hearing. Think I’m going to hard pass on the hunter as a choice for main in SL.
i gotta be honest. as much as i love my hunter, if i started out fresh today, i would not play a hunter. blizz has simplified bm so much that the only real skill to learn to is refresh a buff at the last second to maximize dps. marksman has a clunky play style where there isn’t really a set rotation or that much meaningful interaction. and survival is a mess of a spec that is really only liked by a vast minority of players.
throw on the fact that blizzard has been ignoring us until the recent hunter changes (which nerfed our focus regen based on end game bfa characters) and you really would be better off with another class.
with all that said though, you really need to try out classes to find what you think is fun. one man’s trash is another’s treasure.
Bm’s a fun spec sure, mainly for pve. It’s simplistic, strong, and mobile.
Between multiple pvp-specific nerfs and outdated class design though, it’s been rendered down to bottom tier in pvp. It seems have played survival the past two xpacs unfortunately.
Hopefully shadowlands changes that. #bringbackrangedhunter
