I watched your…ohh wait…no one knows who you are.
Funny how you know me yet you hide behind internet anonymity like a coward.
You have a faction first in SoD yet? No? Thought so.

I think wanting raiding “harder” or “more challenging” are just trigger words.
Comparing OG Vanilla and BFD is apples and oranges. In Vanilla, MMORPGs were still very much in its infancy. Gaming was in general. It wasn’t mainstream yet.
Progression raiding through Vanilla very straight forward. The mechanics were easy to figure out. However, every other fight was a gear check. Ragnaros was unkillable until we had better gear - period. Our healers would OOM. Raids were all meant to be progressive gear checks. The higher up the raids went, the tighter the gear check.
The Classic crowd loves to say, Naxx 40 requires consumes! Well, yes and no. Had you farmed it long enough, you didn’t need them for most of it. The problem is the Classic players expected to down it in a week.
All this really adds up to is constant farming the same instance over and over and over again until you can beat that gear check.
BFD comes out. Gaming is mature. Raiding at any level is main stream. On top of that it’s based off of a game everyone is familiar with. And the raid was tuned with the modern casual gamer mentality in mind.
So it’s not about what’s harder. Or more challenging. OG Vanilla progression raiding just required more patience, perseverance, and adaptability. It was built for a different audience.
Smells sweaty in here.
*makes me think that
Have you met Grizzby?
admit it. admit that you can’t handle other people doing harder content and accruing better rewards than you ![]()
you’re the kind of person who wants a 5 man MC option.
I had to look him up lol. But yes I have, did not remember the name.
It is true. Hard Raid content doesn’t attract players. It’s for the 1%. It’s doesn’t make an MMO good or better. It’s mostly irrelevant for the game as a whole. That’s why Retail has failed.
100% true most people don’t realize MMO’s are driven by players that never complete a Raid and enjoy other aspects of the game.
Let look at the numbers.
4,535,307 characters were created in SOD in the first week! Just SOD in the first week. That’s a lot! 450 adventurers are created every min.
1.9% of characters have cleared the BFD raid. Do we need harder content? By the numbers no. Aren’t statistics great!
Retail meanwhile… lets not talk about their abysmal numbers and 3 flopped expansions in a row.
This is why the most successful MMO of all time has failed.

Yep retail has failed.
You just haven’t caught on yet. It’s a dead game.
Retail is kinda like Bill Cosby. At one time Bill was a very successful comedian, TV show, Author. The list goes on and then…
Retail today is Bill Cosby today. Do I need to say more.
Ya bro. No variables at all in this debate.
One game is harder than the other. That’s it.
Nothing else to talk about.
Retail is dying because it’s hard.
You shouldn’t be talking about game design when you are this clueless about what is happening to the game.
earn their rewards? What was tough about classic wow originally? Looked to me bosses just fell over there too. If people want difficult content then they should play retail.
Retail is staying afloat is cause of lfr. Gamer dads and casuals can get some decent upgrade and nice looking pixels without to spam trade chat or have a fixed sechdule for just playing a game.
So it’s not because they abandoned good story writing?..
Or made uninteresting raids?..
Or put 0 effort into open world content?
No fun events?
nahhh, it’s because the game that has the most options (4 forms of difficulties) to appease to everyone was “too hard”.
Not even your kids would believe you.

Nope, it’s just because it’s hard.
No one wants hard content in MMOs. They want easy raids they can smash and get the best gear.
The sooner you realize this the better.
Only sweaty nerds want hard content and they are like less than 5% of the potential player base.
How is it hard if there’s difficulties that appeases to every demographic of players?
I’m sorry for whatever trauma you suffered, but you are just not correct here.
No one wants to do easier content if it doesn’t reward the best gear.
Why is this hard to understand?
There should be one raid difficulty and it should give the best gear. That’s it.
This is why WOW has been in a steady decline of players since Vanilla.
The “easiest gear” on retail is not that very far behind mythic raiding once you upgrade it…
Mythic is 100x much harder but the gear is nowhere near 100x better…literally like a 5%-10% dps increase between both at max ilvl.
I would say it’s because other games have been introduced that took a massive amount of players.
IE. League of legends / fortnite.
I don’t care what you think.
Get this through your head.
I’m telling you why the game is failing.
I’m not asking you.
I’m correct and you are not. Tough, you don’t understand MMOs. Sorry…
