Is griefing reportable?

So many times while farming herbs or ore or even finding a random chest out in the world and a random hunter or rogue sees it they gather up mobs rush to you then feign/vanish and suddenly the mobs that were no where near you start attacking you. And as you are trying to defend yourself against 5+ mobs the hunter/rogue steals your ore/herb/chest. And there is literally nothing you can do about it because the people who are doing this are the same faction as you.

So what I would like to know is this a reportable griefing offense, or is this some “working as intended BS?”

You can try to report but it’s highly unlikely blizz will do anything about it. This tactic is a very old troll. We would do it to people and let the mob get the last hit so they’d get a repair bill. It’s not against TOS

Sad part is it’s almost always the gold sellers that do this, to ensure they get the lotus if you get to it before them.

Yes, if it’s same faction or PVE server. No if it’s opposite faction on PVP server.

Will they actually be punished for it? Probably not. Blizzard doesn’t enforce their rules much except for stuff that can be auto detected by bot algorithms, and even then mostly just chat violations.

So just from my experience with this if there is a PvP solution to it then its not* reportable.

We had this issue early on with world bosses and having opposing alliance guilds running mobs into our pulls and what i was told was that since there is no PvP solution to the alliance it was griefing, but that if the horde had been the ones doing it then it would be acceptable since there would be a PvP solution

(im on a PvP server)

Yeah it’s always same faction hunters, 99% of the time it’s a gold seller trying to get a lotus you are looting.

Times may have changed, but I used to MC people off the boat from BB to Ratchet. I even made a ticket and asked if what I was doing was allowed since I had so many people threaten to report me, but the GM told me no it’s not against the rules, you’re just being mean. So unless things have changed, I doubt it’s reportable.

That’s opposing faction doing it to each other so that is fine, they can kill you to stop you, this is same faction doing it to people, so there is no pvp solution to it.

true, fair point

It depends on what level of griefing there is and if there is a PvP solution to it.

For what you have said no probably won’t get anywhere.

Now if a Hunter was doing the Rhok’Delar demons or Priest doing the Eye of Divinity Heal Quest and someone repeatedly interfered with it then action would be taken given the nature of the quest where any interference will cause a wipe and reset.

If griefing happens to be on that scale then ya something will be done about it.

No harm in trying to report them, server types have their own set of rules depended on griefing.

If this a PvE server then it’s possible it’s against those set regulations… but on a PvP server almost everything goes even including camping for hours on days end

If it’s your own faction then you can report them because most likely this is griefing that’s not permitted

I am convinced I have made people actually un-subscribe by the amount of chain-ganking I did in Tanaris, don’t think it’s reportable
