One rank 1 use on the 4 test dummy set up results in 600k damage? I’m seeing people come out of instances with this as their top ability accounting for more than 25% of their damage.

So every player’s class defining ability is some temporary rented talent now? If someone asks what spec I am should I be replying “I play Azerite Ray Gun, but I do cat things between firings.”

And 1.5 minute CD on a ability that’s potentially an order of magnitude more damaging then most classes 2 minute CD.

Mind Boggled.

I’m sure it will be nerfed into oblivion. I really don’t know why they even have a test realm since they don’t seem to 1) test these things, or 2) listen to the people that do

What ability is this…?

Having some DPS abilities as resto might not be a bad thing, my other essences currently are garbo for healing.

Essence of the Focusing Iris, drops from M+ caches.

I can’t imagine it’s been nerfed recently unless it was jumping out of servers and physically attacking blizzard employees and this is the compromise.

Do I have to be DPS specc for this? Or will it just drop?

I wouldn’t mind doing one or two Mythic+ just to get something nifty like this to make my life easier.

You have to be DPS to use it. Not sure about the drop but I’ve got healing and tankee things while DPSins so I would imagine it will.

Looking at the other ray gun ability, my guess is it accidentally got an extra zero, it should be dividing the damage between multiple targets or both. At least I hope that’s the case. But I don’t know, maybe being able to pull 500k DPS on a 10 mob pull is intentional.

The PTR is not invite based, you were free to test it if you wanted.

All you people complaining about it will cause it to be nerfed to the point its useless and then people will complain about how bad it is. Blizzard is notorious for nerfing stuff to the ground be careful what you guys ask for.

Stop complaining about it… so your dps will be able to use it in M+ and Raid, If someone use it in pvp ? Stun him or interrupt … Run away or start a def cd … there is no reason to nerf it really …

it’s not even that good except when things are super clumped and this week you can’t even super clump stuff because of bolstering

Don’t forget there’s also the revered punchcard that’s ALSO a hideously powerful nuke on a short cast and available to all classes. There are now two class-agnostic nukes each more powerful than most classes’ combined native CDs, and they can be equipped simultaneously.

I rather love my meme beam to AoE nuke packs. Likely will get nerfed, but I love it and hope it doesnt. Its an amazing AoE (and decent enough ST, but not for all classes/specs) that every can get, and I do not think timing a 7 will be overly hard in the coming weeks.

Let people have something that buffs DPS, its a fun thing and has already brought plenty of fun to my keys.

I mean if people think the Azerite beam is nutty, just wait until people start rocking the Rank 3 TEP essence.

The beam is good because 1) It’s AoE and 2) It’s frontloaded.

In the long run, and especially on ST or spread cleave, other essences significantly outperform it. It will always be good in AoE, but that’s kinda the point.
