Finishing this questline supposedly gives you a buff (or item?) called “Essence Detector” that gives you a chance to loot Bottled Essence from random stuff. However I have no idea whether this is actually active for me or bugged out. There is no “Essence Detector” buff on me, and so far I haven’t got a single bottled essence from any of the rares or dungeons I’ve completed. Is it a hidden buff? Is it working for anyone? Is it just super RNG? It’s so unclear…
I’m more worried about that blatant typo.
C’mon, Blizzard. Do none of your testers read above an elementary level?
Low rate probably. The buff is passive and won’t appear as a character buff.
Yeah, it’s not meant to be a common thing. Probably similar to the legendaries in BfA. Or was that Legion? I forget.
Anyway I was watching a stream earlier and saw one drop at the end of a heroic dungeon.
2 weeks of greater vault you can get a new spark for a new craft.
It’s just a flag on our characters for the server side to know if we’re eligible for a Spark drop. You’ll never see a buff or anything like that for it, and you’ll never “know” it’s working until a Spark drops.
I wouldn’t expect more than 1 Spark every 2 weeks anyway.
I would say that it could take more, because you need a greater vault with 6 coins for 2 weeks in a row to be able to buy a spark.
I’ve gotten one after a +16 key, several of my guildmates got one during raid, others got them from the disturbed dirt/expedition packs, etc.
It works fine.
They posted the math on wowhead earlier but essentially it works out to one bottled essence every 25-30K rare kills.
I thought I remember reading their drop rate was supposed to be similar to legion legendaries
LOL Foxxu you just make up stuff, 25-30k rare kills like how long would that take 4-5 months? killing every rare every day? such an impossible number
Agreed. I have found multiple typos in quest descriptions, and it’s such a lazy thing to overlook.
Really does make the game look like a cheap mobile game when I see it. Very first one was from Toddy in SW at the very beginning of the campaign. I reported the first two I found, but the process to explain a typo to them is more involved than I care for in order to keep doing it.
You mean players that Blizzard will ignore anyway?
Probably yes
Does anyone know if they have implemented a “pity timer” for the essences? Similar to how they did for legendry’s in Legion.
I’ve seen comments on wowhead ranging from some people doing massive amounts of content and getting 0 and then some people looting 3-5 of them during the first day.
The only “pity timer” we’re going to get from the dev’s is a virtual pat on the back and a pep talk about “get out there and try harder”. In all honesty I forgot these things even dropped.

Is there still going to be a weekly quest that guarantees a Bottled Essence, or is it permanently RNG going forward? This is insane. I would wager that most people still haven’t got any bottled essence drops despite doing all kinds of content for this whole week. I’ve done 10+ dungeons, full raid clear, lots of rares, disturbed dirt piles, expedition packs…nothing.
It works, but the droprate is not high in the slightest (and tbh it kinda shouldn’t be?).
It doesn’t need a high drop rate, it just needs some way to guarantee 1 a week like the campaign quests were giving. Is that too much to ask?
A small number people have already got 2-3 drops due to sheer RNG, and that’s dumb considering that some people might get 0 drops for multiple weeks.
You got 1 per 2 weeks with the old campaign.
Honestly, yeah. Asking for a guaranteed Spark every week might be a little bit excessive The five Sparks you get from that campaign guarantee an Elemental Lariat, as many weapons as you could possibly ask for, and possibly even two perfectly-statted rings with a guaranteed socket and/or any offpiece of your choice, with perfect stats.
I don’t mind these things having low droprates after your guaranteed five, as long as it’s something.
Then they need to provide some way to get sparks back from crafted gear that you’ve already used them in. Possibly via disenchanting or recrafting, or some kind of vendor.
