Is this realm dead, I remember not even a few months ago stormwind and the inn were packed with people now there’s usually one or two? Is it something to do with classics release or people switching realms?
Classic has definitely siphoned some people away. I wouldn’t be able to give you a solid metric though.

Definitely blame Classic. From what i’ve seen, you’ll find plenty of ED representation on Grob server for now.

This server is dead, and it was dead before classic even came out.
Accept it and move on.
It was good riddance too, ED was a cesspool of snowflakes and dramaqueens.

ED will keep those milenials who cant play a game without a cinematic every 20 quests and carebear features like LFG. The oldskool players will remain in Grob

Most hardcore RP’ers moved to Moonguard and WrA over the years. There’s not a lot of fresh players in this realm either because it’s “full”. ED is an old server, it’s populated but no one’s using their toon here anymore it seems.
The rest well… Most people who frequent this realm usually hangs out in Boralus. With classic released, the already small population dwindles further. You can now raid Stormwind without solid resistance because it’s near empty.
Also, the faction imbalance in WoW can be really felt in this server. This further discourage people from making an alliance toon. So yeah… this realm is dying real quick.
Yeah I’ve been mostly using Classic for my downtime. On the whole I prefer retail but once you unlock flying, gear up and get whatever Azerite powers you want beefed up - there ain’t much to do.
I suspect when the next content patch pops up we’ll see a resurgence but for now a lot are going Classic.
