Whats everyones takes on this? I had a scenario last week, since i pugged m0, and all my gear was farming rares, so i didnt need anything. A mage wanted shoulders i got and told him i was going to keep for enchanting. I get toxic etc, and was really put down by his attitude… mats are expensive… and those resonate crystals mean alot to me. What would you do? Give gear, or keep to enchant for mats?

If the gear is yours, its yours. Delete it if you like. The gear wasn’t the mages and I feel you should find humor in the fact they called you toxic with toxicity.

Its your gear, your choice to do what you want with it. But Resonate Crystals are about to not matter. They aren’t going to be the expensive part of the enchants by the end of the week.

It’s personal loot, so if you get the drop you can do whatever you please with it.
Now I will say it’s a bit rude and inconsiderate if said Mage could have used said shoulders? Especially M0+ loot that they only have one shot at per week? That and with how common Epics are: Once you’re at 365+ Ilvl they’re all over the place.
But! Like I said, your loot, you do what you wish with it.

Yeah.
I have the thickest skin in the forums. Facts are facts, disenchanting upgrades is toxic. Epic items aren’t rare, you can get a ton a day from Rares if you want crystals. Mythic dungeons, upgrades should be given out.
Cant that be said the other way around…? He will find new shoulders…

Ok, go kill Lance guy every day and you’ll get a Dragonbane Lance to disenchant.
More crystals that way than disenchanting a mage’s shoulder upgrade.

Your drop, your gear. Nobody is entitled to it other than you.
From a personal point of view, this early enchanting is pretty meaningless relative to the impact a new piece of gear can be to someone. I would have given them the gear if he/she had asked nicely.
Having someone go toxic when you said no is a different form of entitlement.

I think gear comes before disenchant…but thats just my view…but also can see yours making sense too. I just think if someone could use the gear by actually wearing it - that that should come before disenchanting. You can disenchant to your hearts content but that drop may have them going que after que. I think the only time your point of view should happen is if you know the ppl you’re on the run with…or if its like a guild run. So gear before disenchant is what makes the most sense to me.

The ironic part is we’re having this discussion on reset day. The day M+ comes out. Neither the 372 gear, or the resonate crystals matter.
