Wondering thoughts from everyone on the status for disc, I’ve played both Oracle and void, I find disc to be the most fun to play healer in the game. The numbers are just not there for me… I can get to about 450k HPS, while maintaining 150k DPS at 600ilvl. Meanwhile I’m gaming as hard as possible, and I see that a shaman can press riptide and chain heal and easily swamp my numbers in raids.
Im not a meta Chaser, nor really care about performance statistics as long as “Im” performing i play whatever good or bad.
It honestly depends on the Other healers u have in your group cause they could beat you to the punch before you, Shamans are Reactive Healers, Disc thrives more being Pro-active healers, Im not sure which hero tree u play, But i play oracle, Both M+ and Raiding. And im enjoying it a little tooooo much. The only downside from oracle is that the DPS may be on the lower side compared to Voidweaver just due to the frequent burst CD’s and Ticking DMG they have vs Oracle. But in the HPS Department Oracle could give Voidweaver a run for its money, the CD Reduction from Premonition of Insight, the Nasty overhealing from Premonition of Piety u can PW: Radiance spam for quick Atonement Applications and Still have both charages available to use and then hit Evangelism Use Premonition of Piety and then Pop Ultimate Penitence for some maaaajor healing. Here are my Logs from my run to get a better understanding of how i play and what i cast.

All healers are viable. Depending on what you are trying to do, some healers will perform better than others.
But all healers will do well in raiding/M+
So it mostly boils down to what you want out of your experience.
But if you’re looking at it in a performance aspect:
Resto shaman - Very good choice
Resto druid - Very good choice
Preservation ev - Very good choice
MW Monk - Good
Holy pal - Good
holy priest - Good
Disc priest - Decent
Just remember that everything changes with gear and stat weights. Once certain classes get to their thresholds, lists are subject to change in all content…
I unironically think Voidweaver Disc right now could easily be meta in M+, and it’s absolutely meta in mythic raid. In heroic with more than 20 people you’re probably better off running Archon Holy because its easier.
I would not be surprised if people start playing Disc as a meta dungeon spec though. The HPS is very high, and coordinated groups will be able to play around the bender/blast windows. Priest utility generally isn’t great - but Mind Soothe is REALLY good this season, Mass dispel is going to make a return (with the affix that needs to be dispelled). They’re pretty safe with a few talents that help with survivability, they’ve got double pain supp and barrier and their damage is also very high.
The unfortunate part is I think in Pug groups disc loses a ton of value - but people will try to play it to emulate top players if it does end up meta.
Oracle disc is also strong healing in dungeon, just less likely to be meta because the damage sucks in comparison to VW. I wouldn’t attempt oracle disc in raid because it’s easily 20% or more behind VW there.
I’ve been mostly stuck to void because it’s more fun to play but I’m struggling in m+ right now.
I can’t speak for the absolute bleeding edge fringe content, but for general end game stuff Disc is absolutely viable. You can either go Voidweaver and lean into atonement to try to maximize your DPS or go Oracle PW:S for what I feel is easier healing and some pretty bonkers Ultimate Penance bursts.
I personally love Oracle Disc but that’s because I’m not big on DPSing as a healer and I prefer to focus on healing. I’m personally stacking crit and vers (with some mastery) and really leaning into big shields, Radiance casts, and Penance casts into allies and cleaving on the raid with Contrition. Obviously I’m doing extremely little DPS but my HPS is quite high. At 590 I can comfortably do about 600-800k HPS and my Ultimate Penance bursts clock in at over 2 million HPS. It’s also gratifying being able to save people with clutch shields.
I will try this out, never getting that high up with my void disc build
So I take it you’re not doing M+ then, which is the main point of this thread? Everything below just doesn’t matter, since there’s almost no damage coming in.
And in M+ you have a timer, so the correct amount of healing is what keeps everyone alive, and nothing more. Every single other cast should go into dps to make beating the timer easier.
I’ll push back on this a bit and say:
If 150k dps is making/breaking your timer, you’re either doing very high push groups that you should be playing meta for regardless, or your group has way worse problems. For the vast majority of players, Oracle does actually work fine in M+ even if it’s a damage sacrifice.
I’d still like to see Oracle buffs to damage. And I still wouldn’t recommend playing M+ oracle because I think it’s a more obtuse spec to play, and Voidweaver’s actually very easy - but it’s not gonna be the reason people aren’t clearing content till they’re pushing past the low 10s.
Im going to take a stab too
Ive been doing M+ as oracle. Every key. Most of my keys are weekend but ive dabbled in some low ones until tomorrow.
Its been pretty well documented by all and sundry that VW has some holes in it outsider its damage windows. In a pug environment with less skilled players i think Oracle plugs those holes that VW leaves open.
Yes i its a healing event but leaves out the stupid dps that get into silly situations that are outside those healing windows that you have already used your cds on.
This i agree with. But ive noticed some of my keys and dungeons people are playing so badly sometimes i struggle to find time to dps cause im direct healing
Disc is fine in both lines of content. I’ve been watching Method/Liquid’s Priests play Disc and Holy.
Ive watched a disc priest clear a +10 with other randoms so its for sure possible with enough time to learn the class properly.
That being said ill be going archon holy for my M+/raiding as i find it significantly easier then disc but thats a skill issue on my end.
It’s 100% viable and in my opinion very strong

Ignore hps meters, every time you glance at them you waste time and probably some casts
Learn your boss damage windows, you can get well over 1 mil healing when focused
