I first picked up my hunter when I first started wow, and the class is starting to just not appeal to me anymore. I’ve barred it down to either a DH or a mage. I don’t mind learning to tank, I’ve actually levels my DH a bit playing veng spec. I like to push keys, and get at least aotc. I also love me some battleground and SS. Any other tips or insight will be appreciated.
I love dh. Love being able to dps and tank using weapon no one else can use. Only real issue I have we need a ranged dps spec. Then we be golden imo
I personally prefer my DH to my Mage. The tank option opens a lot of things up in gameplay.
I find solo content to be more fun on my DH as well, as tank or dps. The pace is faster, I never have to stop to eat conjured food, my movement is faster, and I don’t have to worry about casting shields or kiting as my innate regen is very high and I’m not as squishy.
If/when Lightforged DH’s become available, I may consider significantly more hours on my DH.
I do hope they keep DH to only elves. Personally I do not think every class should be accessible by every race.
Bring in all elves to DH
Fairly sure Blizz said DH and Evoker were the two classes that weren’t going to become available to everyone else like the other classes.
So that includes the void and Nightborn right?
then again, I don’t see a reason why void elves specifically can’t, I mean they are literally belves. Same with pally.
Yes to void elves being allowed. All Elves should be brought into dh. But only elves.
Well if you remember from legion Fel is the left over residue from the light and void fighting. So it could be issue with fel interacting with void beings.
This expansion? Definitely not.
The spec is an amalgamation of half cooked and anti synergistic ideas.
When you pick the spec for the first time you may see double jump and Fel Rush and think, “wow, this is so cool”.
The moment you start dabbling into hero trees, the rotation, and how our talent works you realize the spec is just in shambles.
Stuff got a little better in 11.1 with the changes to Inertia, and some talents like Cycle of Hatred are a little bit better, but Hero trees (both of them, but Aldrachi specially) are still a complete mess, half of our cooldowns don’t sync with each other and the base rotation still boils, sadly, to pressing Blade Dance on CD and filling with Chaos Strike.
I would honestly look elsewhere. If you want a melee that has a somewhat similar feel to DH, maybe you like WW monk. If you want something very simple but also satisfying, Ret is out there as well.
Most people that still play DH sadly do it for reasons that are not related to fun.
Good news though. As time goes by the DH population keeps diminishing, and Chaos Brand is still a required debuff in raid environments. You’re practically guaranteed a raid spot if you’re a good DH in any raid.
I have a 639 BRM, 636 frost mage, and 634 Veng. I like all three. I mained Veng for 3 xpacs and might be going back to Veng for S2. Got 3k as BRM but it was always hard to put keys. Groups will take a veng for pugging and you’ll get into keys quickly. Frost mage though is pretty on keys too because of good DPS lust and utility.
Veng is a very fun and engaging tank spec. It has gaps but with good knowledge of fights you can plan your defensives and not get deleted.
Its a squishy broken mess where 1 talent is most of your dps and several talents and skills simply don’t work fully. Play anything else, you’ll be happier.
i like ww monk, but unlike dh, it lacks any sort of “impact”, so even if it’s technically better in some aspects, it just feels kind of unfulfilling to play. regardless of how much damage you’re doing, it just feels like you’re shadowboxing rather than actually attacking an opponent.
im the op but replying on my dh cause idk how it switched but, the only spec i like from monk, and its gonna sound weird, is brew. brew is so fun.
