Is it fun? is it more entretaining than for example warrior?
boths specs are ‘fun’, yes…but they have a playstyle that i didnt personally like.
It is for about 30 minutes. Then it’s very, very repetitive.
all classes have different niches. DH has to use movement abilities to get short term buffs and then try to fit their eye beam and demon form abilities in that window. Currently you get a short term buffs for sigil of flame, a fel rush after immolation aura and vengeful retreat.
The current hero talent used by Havoc gives you a little burst of damage that stacks each time you do eye beam or an empowered ability, so you try to do use your eye beam and empowered abilities all within the short term buffs windows to do incredibly high burst.
outside of your eye beam window you’re pretty much just blade dancing on CD then filling with chaos strike.
I don’t enjoy it very much, the high-movement stereotype associated with havoc is neutered by being forced to use your movement abilities on CD for dps. For instance Vengeful retreat (your backflip that removes snares) is almost never up for utility since you’re using it on CD for the fury and crit buff it gives. tbf both mythic Court and Queen were especially terrible for high movement classes since your movements had to be precise and were restricted heavily on both fights
Source - just got CE on Havoc DH last week.
I believe in s2 they’ve been changed so felblade (a short targeted dash that gives fury - their resource) can also proc the buff that was previously exclusive to fel rush (your dash) so you should be able to save your dashes for utility and movement next tier and just rely on felblade for that one specific buff.
It can be a bit dizzying to watch in my opinion.
11.1 is doing solid gameplay improvements for it tho and it looks fun design wise.
Not my cup of tea tho.
You have to become your scars, wears lots of black eye liner and listen to early 2000s deathcore bands on repeat. If you fail to do any of these, you might break a nail and end up a paladin player.
its a lot more modern feeling than warrior and far more flashy
do you want mobility and speed?
do you want to jump all over the place in places others can’t go without a long cd?
Then DH is the class for you.
Even Dracthyr are just an imitation that can barely keep up lol.
Short answer? Not in my opinion.
Long answer is that I find dh to more of a less fun monk than warrior. It’s dull and doesn’t pull off the hyper mobile melee feel as well as monk does. Plus who wants to play a class with only 2 specs? Illidan rpers, I suppose.
I can’t speak to playing Havoc, but a Vengeance DH is a lot of fun. They’re fast and gracefully vicious. I enjoy their movement — it’s unique among the classes. The only thing that can kill you are mobs that can lock up your movement since, like warrior, you heal through your attacks. They’re great leather-wearing tanks. One fun thing is when a mob knocks you back, you can hit the space bar and pop back up in their face It’s very satisfying!
That’s subjective.
Objectively not.
I enjoyed it for a while, until I started Fel Rushing myself off of platforms, or into fire, or other bad stuff. It’s effective, but it’s also a short rotation - Shaman takes over your action bars, while DH barely uses any of them.
DH is fun - for a while. Then it starts to get a bit boring.
I like the class but I don’t enjoy baking in so much of its damage to its movement. It also has arguably one of the highest skill ceilings while having one of the lowest skill floors.
Its very easy to be a decent dh. Its very hard to be good or awful at it.
It used to be, but Blizzard ruined it.
If what it does is appealing to you in any way, you might enjoy it. What you find fun will no doubt be different than someone else.
Short answer: I don’t like green.
Long answer:
I don’t like their lore or class fantasy. I don’t like the visual aesthetic of the class, be it the abilities or the way the player characters look. I don’t like the combat animations. I think it’s all ugly. I played the class enough to experience the starting zone and have no desire to play it beyond that. I don’t like it mechanically either. I find Windwalker Monk and Warrior much more fun and interesting in every possible way. And I don’t like green.
I find them kinda gimmicky, like most classes released after Wrath.
Current state? No, not really.
Demon Hunter’s got a serious problem where it’s supposed to both be a relatively easy class to pick up and hard to master but what ends up happening is it’s just a pain to play.
Case in point, the ‘optimal’ rotation for Havoc DPS is 19 abilities deep. Deviating from this will make your DPS plummet. And doing it correctly will mean you will be performing the most work- or pretty close- of any DPS spec to be pushing out middling DPS.
for a season or two it is. gets old pretty quick imo
Oh yea way better than warrior, war is brain dead spec , not saying DH is any better but its more fun
