Whoever the wowhead guy was that wrote demo is punished by movement more than destro was lying. I tried it for a day and suddenly quaking is a nonissue
Ok, seeing as how I have gotten: “yes”, “no”, and “maybe” - this is my answer.
no.
that’s the fault of the community. i can either become part of the toxic community like you have, or i can be one of the people representing reality. i opt for the latter 100% of the time. “the community is entirely toxic so you may as well be toxic too” is a terrible argument and you should feel terrible for using it
But, that’s not reality. The reality is most groups will want good DPS, and Destro / Aff isn’t that. Perception is reality. What the community perceives is reality. I’ve had tanks leave like 6 and 7’s because I’m not doing 40k every pack as Destro. THAT is reality.
it is reality. destro is fine for 6s and 7s. aff is fine. it’s 6s and 7s. players taking the meta too seriously is the problem. that’s what the tanks are doing and they are incorrect and taking the meta way too bloody serious. as are you.
the meta doesn’t start to really make much in the way of difference until the highest difficulty levels and most of those differences is because the people piloting those specs are at the highest skill levels and can make the differences between the specs shine.
the other 90% of us are going to be broadly the same regardless of spec. there will be space sure, but thats what those little bars in the graphs mean. the little lines on the ends are the outliers, the bars are the majority. you see how the majority of most specs occupy broadly the same space? thats because most of them are mostly the same.
Dude I was in a 7 last night and tank left cause DPS was too low, even though we would have easily beat time, probably even +2 it. Then the replacement tank threatened to leave in the 6, because warlock and hunter couldn’t keep up with the monk. THAT is the reality. It doesn’t matter that we can time the dungeon, if the community perceives it as trash, the key level doesn’t matter. Again, perception is reality. If you want to do m+, you better play a meta spec if you plan to pug anything without a lot of heartache. Not saying I agree with the toxic attitude, but it IS the current reality. It has been for a long while. I understand what you are saying, but it doesn’t matter if you can’t change it.
And frankly, my DPS isn’t good enough to go that much higher. I was pretty decent in SL and now it’s just broken. I don’t care to do any world first competition, but I’d like to try to get KSM and be able to do keys without watching other classes out-dps me by 50% or more every pull. It’s not unreasonable.
I had maybe two-three pug keys fail in the last 2 seasons of SL. People don’t leave because of the specs people are playing, or they wouldn’t start the key to begin with. People leave because the player can’t function in the spec or they fail at basic mechanics.
I don’t know why people keep saying play what you want. I tried aff 2-3 keys and quickly switched to demo. Unless you like being last dps or you play with baddies who make you look better demono is the right answer.
