Or does biracial status, in Warcraft, only count among races that don't share a common lineage?
... good question. I hope this thread stays civil.
They don't really touch on races within races. I would be willing to imagine that the racial difference between a Bronzebeard and Dark Iron Dwarf is something like the difference between a Caucasian person and~
... alright, no race that I say will bode well, but you get the picture. The two people are humans all the same, but ethnically (and in a real life sense where the other "races" in terms of WoW do not exist, racially) they are diverse.
As a dwarf, I'd say he is biracial. Otherwise, probably not. A dwarf is a dwarf.

Me and you both, but I thought we could take a break from the Sylvanas/Forsaken/Night Elf threads for a bit.
I'm kind of hoping when he gets older, Dagran Jr. is given heterochromia, giving him two distinct eye colors: one normal eye color and one glowing red.
Biracial.
The dark Iron, bronzebeard, and Wildhammer are different races of dwarves.
However, they are the same species

Using real life terms, yeah I would consider Dark Irons and Bronzebeard seperate races, and thus Dagran a biracial. I mean, there's enough difference between the two to have them be considered seperate races.
There was a split in the Dark Irons about the mixblood heir, some Dark Irons didn't like having a hybrid be their heir so they rebelled against Moira.
Ambassador Slaghammer: That halfbreed runt will never be my emperor!
The use of "halfbreed" clearly shows that they see themselves as different 'breeds'. So yeah, I'd consider them Biracial in lore.

Normally that denotes a snowflake character - Chris Chan ruined that for me - but in this context, that honestly could make sense. But I dunno if it'd be like that, the kid would basically be Harvey Dent if it was split like that. Dagran would probably just have eyes that lightly glowed red, rather than an even divide.11/13/2018 08:04 PMPosted by MurdraI'm kind of hoping when he gets older, Dagran Jr. is given heterochromia, giving him two distinct eye colors: one normal eye color and one glowing red.

He has green Bronzebeard eyes. Otherwise he has Dark Iron Skin and hair colour.
In fact, it's the only Bronzebeard trait he has, so I hope they don't ruin that by making one eye glow.

TBH I think it would look silly.
I feel bad for people with heterochromia, but I'm rather put off with it in ficiton when it's used to denote a special character.
It has been done well though, but rarely.

His skin isnt really Dark Iron. In the book his skin is described as a very light grey with a warm hue/undertone too it. So like a mix of the two.
I imagine it looks just luke the grey-ish skin option dwarves have in character creation.

I have no idea who that is but if people say it's a bad idea, then it's a bad idea. I just hope Blizzard doesn't try to steal any more ideas from GoT and turn the kid into a Joffrey or something.
Also, in BTS, he's described as either being six or seven now among other things, so here's hoping Blizzard updates his model in the next expansion to reflect this description.
I think with IRL definitions then yeah he is. But I don't think that each clan is a just a different "race"; I don't know if the Dark Iron were originally dark and had red eyes, of their time in the volcano + Ragnaros worship changed them, but seeing as its quite a dramatic change from a stock dwarf, it's hard to say.
There is no concept of "race" in wow, which would denote Dagran as being biracial - instead he is just called the he'ir of Dark Iron and Bronzebeard, denoting that it's just a clan thing. But the argument is definitely plausible, but it would open up a can of worms regarding other races in wow which would be very humourous to witness people losing their marbles over.

He's also called a "Half-Breed". Which implies they are of different 'breeds', which would really refer to race when referring to people, just insultingly so.

I dunno. I consider night, blood and high elves, as well as nightborne, as being different Races of the same specie, which is elf.
I also consider forest, jungle, ice and sand trolls, as well as zandalari, as being different races of the same specie, which is troll.
I don't see the dwarves as being different. Race, in WoW, can refer to different races of the same specie.
I suppose he would be half dark iron, half bronze beard.
I don't know if blizzard has ever portrayed biracial WoW characters unless they were a mix of two complete different races, so it would be interesting to see what they do with him. He should be a teenager by now, right?

Wasn't aware he was called a half-breed. Fair point.

He's seven or eight, I think.
Moira was still pregnant with him in Vanilla WoW. I'll assume he was born in later vanilla or early TBC.
That's 1 year for TBC, 1 year for Wrath, 2 years for Cata, 1 year for MoP, 1 year for WoD, and 1 year for Legion. So, seven or eight.

Gotcha, I overestimated. He should get a new model though, and not be that weird baby anymore lol.
