I know about console port but I remember there ebing something about them adding native support to wow… was it patched in yet?

Why would it be? WoW is strictly PC based because of M&K.
You can use a controller for WoW… but look at all those abilities you have to macro.
Not to mention stay on the move.
Controllers are by no means as efficient as K&M for WoW, they’re actually quite a bit easier than you’d expect it to be. Once it’s configured it’s super chill for some content. Farming herbs, mining, soloing old transmog raids, exploring, etc? Throw the game up on the TV, kick back and relax on the couch controller in hand and go crazy.

But why go through all that hassle when you can take a wireless keyboard, kick back and relax on a recliner chair?
Because they said they were adding controller support for people with disabilities.
They announced that a LONG time ago and people went nuts screaming “It’s going to Xbox! ZOMGGGGGG!”

Absolutely zero sense.
We live in 2020, there are mouse and keyboards that would give somebody with a disability a significantly better edge than a controller with macros.
From my experience, controlling the game with just the keyboard isn’t nearly as comfortable than with a controller with a dedicated camera joystick. Also not having like a stable surface to sit it on feels weird (such as setting it on your legs). AND if you get a wireless mouse to take with you to the recliner you’re using the arm as a mouse pad and it just… point is it’s so much more natural feeling to have a controller in a freeform environment. IMO
There are less buttons for a WoW class to macro than there are buttons in your average XIV rotation and they manage to do it.
This is the part where I tell Activision-Blizzard that XIV purposefully didn’t patent the crosshotbar because they wanted other mmos to use it
Im already tooling around with it just for fun and it feels so smooth in terms of movement.
In terms of everything else its quickly becoming a headache but im still enjoying myself.
Gotta get console port addon and try it I guess. Though I dont think its been updated for current patch.
Yes, proper native controller support is now in the game. Sorry that the first few replies, instead of giving an answer, just hassled you.
Hope you enjoy the controller support! I know several people in FFXIV who swear by it in that game and do end game content quite well on controller. I don’t think it will be for everyone but I hope you find success and enjoyment with it.

Enjoying it very much but gathering herb/ore and picking up loot are a real pain ):
I’m glad that there’s controller support, some friends of mine only use their computers for day to day things and only really play games on dedicated home consoles/handhelds. So using something other than a controller is a bit of an odd concept to them.
Im using console port now.
I may try messing around with the native support again at some point but I think its still a work in progress.
