Is Clawing Shadows Decent?

More to the point is it any less decent than AWS?

It’s good.

I haven’t tried it out yet but it looks better than scourge strike so let me know what you think. I am testing out superstrain right now and its showing good numbers for me in pvp

Clawing Shadows is a great talent IMO. It’s slightly behind AWS in pure Single target but CS brings several benefits;

Range-Bosses aren’t target dummies and being able to continue to attack while having to do mechanics is nice. For example, on Stone Legion Generals I can can continue to hit the goliaths add during upheaval which I have to run out to avoid ground tremors.

Cleave/AoE - CS does a lot more than a normal Scourge Strike because it not only does more damage overall, it also does all shadow damage instead of part physical, not mitigated by armor and full mastery benefit, the difference is huge when you drop Death & Decay and CS starts hitting 5 targets per cast, in Fights with adds or in M+ CS carries when cleaving down packs.

So far this expansion I’ve also almost exclusively used CS in Mythic Plus. Previously the go to was a wound build with Infected claws and Bursting Sores but with the UB changes it’s arguably as good if not better to run UB over bursting which makes IC weaker compared to CS.

Hope this helped.

So you would mostly recommend it for m+ and cleave raid boss fights?

I really like picking up CS for M+, enables your DnD window really well and makes yourself safer. Much better to stay away from a pack and avoid any melee mechanics.

For raid, it’s only really picked up on the last two bosses atm. SLG because of lots of downtime and effective 5 target cleave, sire because your skeleton pet is stupid and can’t move through the mirrors

I could see Clawing Shadows having more play in the upcoming affix week.

It’s storming…

i take it on mine because i pvp and love having a range attack. when i sim, it’s honestly neck and neck with the middle talent, sometimes ahead, sometimes behind.
