What do you guys think? As an alliance player the PvP is 95% losses in AV, and about 80% losses in WSG due to premades.
I played vanilla, BC, and wotlk, and PvP was just better in all those versions. In my opinion anyway.
Opinions? Trolls? Memes? Bring 'em on, I’d like to hear your thoughts.
I think people always find the pvp they do the best in to be better.
IMO, it’s actually very fun when both sides are roughly at the same skill level.
The skill cap of play has a lot of potential, but just like almost every other version of WoW the majority will never reach it.
Vanilla PvP has some rather unique play possibilities, TBC also shared this, only that the possibilities are just very different due to resilience and different class designs and gear itemization.
The problem most players face and why most will find it un-fun stems from the fact that the bulk of the better “on average” PVP enthusiasts are Horde.
As a result of this bias of skill, the alliance faction is in for a rough time in average.
aside from the map its bad , other then that I really enjoy it . modern retail sucks with unlimited mana regen , you have to chase priests and monks all across azeroth just to kill them its sorta lame
This has been the most toxic state I have ever seen pvp.
We have had horde kill a realm during p2.
Premades gy camping players (this was a thing before, but it is experienced in far greater frequency and for longer periods of time now.)
AV premades which left a team in a 10v40 situation.
Scorched earth policy AV games which result in one side gaining absolutely no objectives and being gy camped at their spawn (because horde is clearly better and doesn’t have a huge map advantage /rollseyes)
This iteration of wow pvp is absolutely the worst.
It’s the best.

No, sadly. Retail is even worse, because the pvp isnt even fun. Takes 15 minutes to kill anyone on retail.
It’s the worst, because nearly the entire pvp community picked one faction. In BFA the game is also massively skewed towards horde, but with warmode being toggleable, and Merc mode in BGs you don’t notice it. It’s clearly obvious what years of blizzard neglecting the alliance has done in classic. It’s unfortunate that I prefer the “dead” faction.
I was really looking forward to pvp in classic, but I couldn’t make it past rank 3 before wanting to pull my hair out. And it’s only gotten worse with time. So yes, I would agree that classic pvp is extremely bad. I don’t know if it’s the WORST though. BFA pvp is atrocious right now. But even Legion pvp was better than classic.
Arena didn’t ruin PvP. It destroyed egos that people just aren’t as good as they think they are and couldn’t just mindlessly grind bgs on the backs of others for the best possible PvP gear. You actually had to place in the upper percentile. Lol.
At least we don’t have sporepods and infinite stars in classic.
Arena utterly failed as an esport.
Even mythic dungeons are more entertaining as a competition.
I would have liked to see how objective based PVP would have done as an esport.
Yes, classic is the worst PVP wow has ever had
except when they added resilience
or when they added DKs and didn’t balance them for two years
or when they removed resilience with no idea how to replace it
or when they added monks and refused to balance them for years
or when they just gave up on balancing and just gave every class every utility
or when they gave up on balancing again and just removed every utility from every class and took away core spells
Or when they added 100% RNG legendaries and if you didn’t have the right one you automatically were bottom tier.
Or when they took away RNG legendaries and replaced them with RNG corruption.
But other than those 12ish years, yes classic is the worst.
All of WSG is premades. Its both sides and you might lose 80% of the time in AV but its shorter queues allowing you to farm rep alot more quickly and get alot more Honor per hour than horde. So its a balancing act. Both have upsides and downsides.
Losses for both sides in WSG are 80%+ unless you’re in a premade. It’s awful for any pug.
AV, not sure why ally are not doing well. The bg was always their strong point (yes even before the cave moved).
In BC - you had your metas Resto Druids Kings of 2s, second best in 3s. But it also started the huge gap between certain classes. WOTLK, you must have forgotten DKS all of season 5. They could literally solo 3s and BGs. They could even do their ghoul rez after being killed to win the match with corpse explosion.
And, well, we aren’t even going to talk about Legion or BFA. Total and complete trash.
PVP is best in vanilla cause it’s the only time it’s balanced around large group play. Every class isn’t expected to be able to do everything. People get mad in 1v1, but forget, Vanilla wow was literally never ever EVER balanced for 1v1 or considered something to do alone.
I liked resilience. It was fun to be able to just BG PVP and have good enough gear to do that.
Vanilla PvP is the best PvP.
WF totem, Sword Spec, HoJ… what more could you ask for?
Retail (current) is prob worst for me.
Everyone has tons of HP, shields, bubbles, self heals, gap creators, gap closers…

I played vanilla BGs from dec 05 till tbc everyday I could. Possibly rose tinted glasses but I don’t remember anything like this. Now it’s just zergs and deathballs. Back then it was an ebb and flow.
It’s not the worst. I came back for world PVP because it has been missing from retail for a LONG LONG time (I ran a guild with a heavy world PVP focus in WOTLK/Cata and we had to make it happen). The world in Classic is great just like the Vanilla world PVP was, at least on my server.
Wpvp could be fun in classic but it’s normally a party just rolling you. In vanilla I remember 1v1s so many times in silithus, felwood and winter spring. Never once saw a death ball in classic. Closest thing I saw to that was a geared dwarf paladin in shiny golden armor killing all us cows
