Hello all, I don’t come around the forums often but I have been curious about classic since prepatch dropped. I’m hoping to get some kind and honest feedback about how Cataclysm is doing.
I have not really enjoyed retail this entire expansion but have played mostly for my friends and guild. S4 and MoP has kind of spread everyone out and it’s a good oppurtunity to try classic while we wait for TWW to drop.
There’s just one thing, I have heard nightmares about the current state of classic. Lots of bugs and exploits (Same with retail) A massive in your face bot problem, where you can clearly see scripted bots in BGs (More rare in retail)
I also hear the culture here is more on the extreme side when it comes to parsing, GDKP, etc… Which doesn’t really affect me personally, because I don’t involve myself and/or attempt to compete with anyone… I have also browsed around and notice a lot of people complaining about the AH. Is the economy really that out of control?
That being said, am I going to have a place here? Would SoD be better? or is it worse over there? Are there enough chill guilds out there in Cata that just want to down bosses for loot instead of all the parsing stuff?
I’m thinking of rolling horde, I’m not sure what server to pick to avoid the elite crowd… Maybe someone can stir me in the right direction? I just want to have fun and enjoy the World.
Prices can get pretty crazy at the start of an expansion. All the top guilds racing for the best things to put themselves at any advantage that they can get for the raid launch. Things have started to come down a bit, and you can expect prices to continue to fall as we progress.
There are guilds around that don’t really compete, but they will mostly be doing normal raids.
Personally I love cata and prefer it over vanilla, tbc and wrath. I find it way more fluid and raids and at the point where they are super enjoyable but not mind numbing easy like wrath and tbc raids were.
Well maybe. The thing is after cata is mop and given we didn’t get tbc or wrath permanent the chance of cata as a permanent era is not that high. I would think that you should play cata as much as you want so long as you are ok with mop/legion progression. Sod would be good to start right now ~8 weeks should be enough to get level 50 real casually then polish up on runes.
Rating bashing in the 14 year old expansion to a person saying they’re having fun. I am just curious as to your thought process and where the false sense of superiority in a dead game.
1200? The rating I got capping cp with a stranger from lfg? Damn you got me! Spent a solid hour getting all of that rating. Grind was so hard
Thanks for pointing out that I must invest more time out of a 15 year old game to gain rating which I gained 15 years ago which you can see I was glad in 20th jan 2011.
This is completely overexaggerated on the forums. It used to be bad but I’ve done a ton of BGs in the last month and I honestly don’t think I’ve seen more than a handful of bots. They used to do it for the gems to make gold but that’s a thing of the past now, so why would they do it?
Doesn’t really seem any different than WoTLK Classic was. I don’t even know what the complaints are tbh. People whining about inflation but most things seem cheap enough.
I have been playing it for a bit myself. But I would love a permanent wrath classic era server to play on also. Just seems like something is missing in cata.
It just doesn’t even feel like it holds up to what it did in 2010.
