Is cat weaving viable?

So I’m giving druid a try, last class I haven’t played at 80, or really at all since Cata.

Is catweaving with Dream of Cenarius viable in endgame content? I know it’s not meta, but I can’t see anyone on Archon running it.

Seems like an interesting playstyle, at least.

But you don’t need Dream of Cenarius to catweave.

As for if you do, yes.

Could I pick up those talents and still time the keys that I’m currently doing, yes. Probably with slightly lower success rate.

Yeah, but I’d like to sit in cat form a little more and basically play Rogue and healer at the same time, you know?

What is cat weaving?

Is it switching back and forth between cat form with feral talents and night elf form with common druid talents?

It’s a playstyle for resto druid. Basically, since your healing is all heal over time, you throw up your hots then jump into cat form and do damage. With Dream of Cenarius, some of your damage turns into healing, so my thinking is you could sit in cat form more.

There’s also owl weaving, which is the same thing but moonkin form and casting spells.

As I said, you don’t need Dream of cenarius for that.

I had a mental image of some crazy dude trying to weave a mat out of cats and getting shredded by claws for his trouble, but I’m about 99% sure that’s NOT what they’re talking about.

Does it hurt that much to take it though? 'cause you know I love the whole damage to healing thing.

I donno how big the talents are for rdruid, what you’d be giving up.

Thank you for the explanation.

It’s a loss of potential… weaker by maybe 10%? Only time it heals, if if there’s no healing needed.

I can live with that. Thanks for the info.

Yes. In fact the alternative spell casting variant does so little damage, it’s not worth it unless you are raiding and are using periods of low damage to regen mana.

But honestly, don’t even worry about it. Catweaving even optimally will add maybe 500k dps to a mythic+ run, you aren’t missing much. If you are keying at a level where healer dps matters, resto is not meta - they do so little dps and require way too many GCDs to get their DPS out vs. other healers who do the vast majority of their damage in 1-2 button pushes.

My cats like to weave in between my legs when I’m feeding them, it’s pretty effective at tripping me.

I never know with a Druid what they are actually playing. One minute they are bear, then cat, then moonkin.

It’s the ultimate hybrid class and hasn’t ever appealed to me. But if it works for you, then it’s viable.

I liked disc priest for my DPS/heal combo

Wildstalker Resto looks fun.

I don’t know if there have been nerfs since but this Resto pumped within this lower key:

I’d imagine the skill ceiling here is super high tho. Looks tricky!

Just like your recent Aug threads why aren’t you asking this in the Druid Discord instead of GD?

As this is a WoW general chat, I can ask about anything WoW related here if I so choose. I happened to have the tab open, so deal with it.

Crochet with a cat in your lap?

For the content you play, sure. Cat weaving is viable.

Anything is viable.

Because response here is way faster than going to the class forum.
