Don’t you guys have mice with side buttons?
For some classes yes it’s a problem.
This is one of the things I like about classic wrath. The classes in general seem more complicated to play. With more abilities and stuff like that.
I still think it is stupid that I can’t even cast exorcism on my paladin anymore, simply because blizzard removed it in retail. It is nice to pretty much have every move I want in classic wrath.
I think in retail they had a decent balance of bloat when dragonflight came out. But now that they have started nerfing and removing abilities again, retail is just a bit more boring than it was before. I was pretty happy playing my ret paladin during df pre patch. Now I find ret boring.
You say the term button bloat and blizzard adds 3 more cooldowns for me to juggle and takes away 3 cool class flavor spells that I didn’t need to press during fights and greatly enjoyed.
Blizzard can’t figure out how to handle button bloat without monkey pawing the whole situation. I could explain in detail how to handle it perfectly but at this point I am sure that the guy who reads the wow posts hasn’t updated his eyeglass prescription in 15 years. And I think that’s probably for the best.
Feral single target is over the top. And they just added another one recently with feral moonfire.
12 button mouse, use two modifiers, so 36 buttons and I’m having to trade in and out abilities.
I don’t think so. You have your main rotational buttons then you have some “I better use these in x y z scenario” buttons.
What abilities do you want to get rid of, to decrease the button bloat? You don’t have to put everything on your bars you know. Heck, you don’t even have to spec into all the abilities that are there.
Yeah I bet with your 200 mounts and 15 transmog outfits you are running out of buttons to press.
What kind of post is this
In a typical fight you have main rotationals, so like 4-6 buttons, then 2-4 CDs depending on spec, 2-4 defensives, mobility spells, pots, niche use abilities like Life Grip
This isn’t even counting if you use need focus button/macros or scenarios where you step outside your normal role and toss some off heals or something
Then there’s pvp where you have 3 more talents on top of a trinket and maybe macros for teammates/opposing teams
My main is a shadow priest and I have about 15 buttons for the main rotation that you’d need for a boss fight
VT
SWD
Mind blast
Plague
Void torrent
Mind flat/spike
Shadow crash
PWS
Feather
Halo
Mind Games
Shadow fiend
Power infusion
Voidform/voidbolt
Fade
This doesn’t even include off hand things like:
Grip
Mass Dispel
Desperate Prayer
Vampiric Embrace
Dispersion
Flash Heal
Disease Dispel
All of which need to be bound because they’re clutch and could save your life or the fight.
That’s 21 buttons just for the basic shadow toolkit. Then you have pots, buffs, and possibly racials if they’re on use and useful.
Edit: I forgot
Magic Dispel
Psychic Scream
Silence
Void Tendrils if you spec them
So 25 buttons that should be bound unless you want to play at a subpar level
Well i play :
MM/BM hunter
Outlaw rogue
Fury warrior
Scru- i mean Ret paladin.
Destro/Affliction warlock
WW monk
Bear tank
None of these have “button bloat”
FUry has garbage abilities that are extremely unfun to use like ravager and spear of bastion, but thats it
You can’t play all of those unless you mean you just have those characters on your account.
Always get high rating in m+ on my hunter.
Got CE/multile high m+ seasons on my warlock
My paladin is currently sitting at KSH rating
im currently gearing my rogue to this patch and will likely have all 20s timed next week.
My other characters are all 70 with decent gear from last patch.
Go back to classic kiddo.
Ideally i don’t want to use more than 16 buttons and no screen clicking. Some class/spec i need a dozen more binds and a bunch of clickies
I feel a number of abilities would be suited to toggles rather than active or could use altered functionality. For example if immolation aura was a toggle or if flash heal hit enemies with smite
Dude, at most classes use 8-10 buttons for their main rotation which isn’t much.
Meanwhile XIV has classes with 28 buttons in their main rotation, and you press ALL of them constantly.
I think buttons are fine.
Where the bloat lies is ccs and buffs/debuffs.
Pvp is an absolute state of chaos with the amount of stuff going on. Lack of proper diminishing returns… it’s just… oof.
There are some alts of mine I don’t even play in pvp because the button bloat is way too high. My shadow priest is pushing it. If I hadn’t played shadow for years and wasn’t so familiar with it I probably wouldn’t play him either
I don’t really have an issue, but I’ve always used 3 hotbars for abilities and 2 for utility. So I guess I’ve always had plenty of room? I don’t know
Do you use 1-= and alt and shift binds?
No, unless someone thinks that 5 buttons is bloat.
I’m not a big fan healer cooldown bloat personally, but few dps that I played seemed fine.
As long as they design more passive talent builds within reasonable range of performance, I don’t mind that bloated builds exist for players who want to minimax/challenge.
There’s always mobile games if too many buttons are an ish for you.
