Is Broken Tooth the best PvP pet at the moment?

I currently got Broken Tooth under 2 hours of dinging 37 but unsure if he is even that good for PvP or if he is the best until Son of Hakkar.

Cats have the highest DPS. BT has the same DPS as any other cat, but faster attack speeds, so he is the best cat pet. Boars are still great in PvP for the stun. Depends if you want a charge with a 1 second stun or high DPS with frustrating spell pushback (especially if specced deep BM for PvP, BT with attack speed proc on crits makes him something like a .7 speed and will ruin a caster’s day, coupled with BW which means a mage can’t poly or nova him).

He is very good in PvP, but there will be matchups and situations where a boar is the better play. I bring BT everywhere since he can stealth alongside my Shadowmeld, but I like a boar once in a while. Most other pets are not PvP oriented.

I fail to see what would make Son of Hakkar better than any other wind serpent, aside from LB6.

Broken Tooth is considered best PvP pet for spell pushback on a 1.0 speed attack (faster w/ Frenzy).

Other than the slight range to Lightning Breath, I can’t see how that even begins to compare to Broken Tooth.

Best for what? Pets serve different functions. If you are talking about a good caster killer, the BT is good. Any pet with A.S. of 1.2 or faster is a great caster killer. BT is the fastest one at 1.0

Vs caster broken tooth is best. Vs melee a boar is best.

Back in Vanilla when i was trying to rank up the PVP honor system I had BT for AV, but liked to use an Owl instead the other BG’s. Besides having these 2 skills on autocast, it’s hard to see the battlefield when you have a giant owl flapping in your face:

Dive 3: Increases movement speed by 80% for 15 seconds.

Screech 4: Blasts a single enemy for 26 to 46 damage and lowers the melee attack power of all enemies in melee range by 100. Effect lasts 4 sec.

Broken tooth is mostly just an over rated pet due to having the fastest attack speed, while it is the best at interupting spell casts and being a cat having high dps (cats have best dps) it has the bad defense like all cats.

There are a lot of other pets with 1.2 that require zero farming amounts (and .2 difference in attack speed which is still VERY good for spell interupt) and not all are cats.

for PVP I would say the best pets are:
*Boars for stun, decent defense, just low damage/attack speed.
Cats high dps, gets prowl, has different cats with all attack speeds
*Wolfs, adds physical damage to attacks as a buff, considered a general pet. has variants with 1.2 attack speed
*Scorpid, defensive pet, has a DOT pet ability that is often underestimated, and it stacks up to 5 times. also creepy looking so can bother ppl afraid of them
*Owl, offensive but decent defense, gets screech, also really good pve leveling pet, learns claw as well for focus dump.
*Carrion bird, a general pet, learns screech, learns claw and bite. also has a 1.2 attack speed variant
*Bat, Offensive pet, learns bite and screech. Once ZG is out, there will be 2 added with 1.0 attack speed making broken tooth less desired as they are easier to get at that point.
*Wind Serpents, Learns the only ranged pet attack called Lightning breath, some debate that if managed and focused on in fights, while manually using its attacks could potentially be highest dps, but may not be worth. Can eat bread so mages can make them super cheap and easy to feed.

I would also suggest looking at Petopia for all pet attack speeds and more information.

Also of note, pets like spiders and scorpids have the effect of bothering ppl who have issues with bugs, can help in pvp at times, but not reliable.

Flyings pets can block vision in fights, but also not reliable, but can be annoying to fight against.

My hunter didn’t even own a cat. I had the typical wolf for groups and a wind snake for other things like BGs. You can drool over attack speed if you want, but paladins have 100+ pushback resist, meaning they are unaffected, no matter how often they are hit. Matches were also over half full of warriors/paladins in plate armor. They laugh at pitiful pet attacks. The magic damage shock pierces armor. It also has a 20y range, so your pet is not hurt as much by being out of melee range. You can nova the thing, stand back, and still keep getting shocked up to 20y.

yes 1.0 attack speed.

I think you already knew the answer. Just gloating on the forums.

ha well, it looks like he peaked at Brokentooth. He’s still level 37.

It was pre ZG Zg bats have the same attack speed. So don’t waste your time camping.
