I’m getting back into tanking. I’ve been playing on blood dk, prot pally, and brew. Brew feels really, really squishy. I know I’m doing it wrong, but not sure what I’m doing wrong. I reach this point where I can’t seem to clear enough stagger for it to matter. It’s like a slow death…
Gear , you spec, ilvl what are you running? Mythic plus or raiding? I know my tank build is a mythic plus build that on fort weeks can handle mobs easy that i have seen other classes struggle with so IDK you not clearing stagger fast enough maybe.
Death by a thousand cuts. This is indeed something brew struggles with. depending on key difficulty there are some talents for lower content, that help in that regard, but they are not necessary.
Brew can feel a bit more squishy at the beginning, especially when you overuse Expel harm and purifies. Purifies have a diminishing return regarding their efficiency if you use them too often.
You can fish and gather herbs etc while in zen flight… And some other class/spec abilities. Kinda niche but fun.
Dampen harm defensive varies if you know bursts are coming and healer is overwhelmed just pop it probably.
Get weak auras and watch guides on YouTube n stuff
Don’t enter a mog competition with me in it.
While back I was told you can do cjl for a split second to help pull without draining much energy. Kinda wish there was a fire breath version of it. I’ll probably make a thread about it now.
I think lines of communication may be more crucial than other tanks, M+ raid or PVP.
Also, be ready to commit to brew for awhile till you’re solid. The spec requires you to main it if you want to attempt to be optimal… I stopped playing for a few months and years and leveled different toons etc, when I come back to brew it’s a little harder than I remembered.
I like to bonedust brew then touch of death on bosses.
Idk I can go on and on. You should just ask specific questions.
Well, let me ask this, then: is brewmaster decent as a pug tank? I really only pug. I like that it’s more difficult to pick up, though. Gives me something to work on.
brew is very strong defensively and offensively it just has a very high skill ceiling that most players understandably have a hard time reaching. it as a pug tank is also kinda sus cause the community as a whole is very misinformed about brew as a whole and thus wouldnt invite one cause of “strimer misinfo”
your better off chosing to play brew because you want to player it. not cause of pugging or other stuff
Brew can handle max vault reward content just fine. If you’re pushing past they, you need practice.
Like the rest of the tank roster, you want to get your trinkets this season asap. They offer a stupidly high amount of damage mitigation. All tanks are in that same boat, fyrakk trinket is nutso in m+. Treemouth’s splinter is a good m+ item to target.
Exploding keg and leg sweep both buy you a significant chunk of reprieve from melee damage. Usually not best to overlap them or blow them back to back. Use them wisely while timing your stagger.
Don’t be afraid to put some distance between you and the mobs if you’re still learning. RoP is great disruption, but if you need the space while you learn, use it then.
Don’t sit on charges of anything. Use your buttons.
Dungeon knowledge and knowing when to time your kit. Broken record here, but trinkets are a big deal for this. First boss of azure vault hits like a truck on tyrannical weeks.
You bring lots of CC, damage, and a cleanse to the group. Brew is worthwhile to take.
