Is Boralus bigger than Stormwind in lore?

I mean it sure looks bigger in game, Boralus has like…three flightpaths in the same city…

The layout of that city is irritating. On a positive note, it does make me appreciate the neverending tiers and stairs of the troll pyramid.

I don’t know if it’s larger. I’d imagine that it has three flight points because unlike Stormwind, we cannot fly in Boralus just yet. Without flying it’d be really frustrating to navigate. Having three flight points makes it less of a hassle.

Stormwind is definitely larger in-game. Ah, the time when we had to run to Dwarven District to get on the tram.

But Boralus feels larger?

I would also say the flight paths are a quality of life issue.

Stormwind was one of original cities from when they didn’t care if could fly. Running for 20 minutes or more was part of the game.

As far as size wise, Stormwind is bigger overall I believe. I like the districts of Boralus more though because it actually looks like people live there.

I’m sure part of the reason it feels that way is the separation of the sections. If the dock wall wasn’t there, the end of the dock isn’t that far from the castle or whatever they call it.

It feels larger because there are fewer direct paths from one end of the city to the other. Sometimes you have to cut back or go around which make the trip feel longer. I still lose my way sometimes or I have to actually think about my route when going from the harbour part of Boralus to the innercity part. Going from one end of Stormwind to the other is a lot more direct and intuitive.

I didn’t find canon information about that, but i would assume that Stormwind is bigger and have more population, just because they have and had always a lot of money to affront every war campaign since always. Also they must have a more developed comerce and echonomy in comparasion to Boralus, that seems being just “sea industrial echonomy”.

I would say that Boralus is much bigger than Stormwind!
At least it’s much more spread out than the human capital in East Kingdom!

Well, this is one of the advantages of being a new map, made in times and modern, with more features and better technology applied to the game!

With regards to lore, Stormwind has something like 200k, I believe - where as Boralus had a much smaller population. When it comes to the ingame, however, Blizzard is going bigger and better with new cities - so I’d put money on Boralus taking up more physical space.

Really makes me wish they’d revamp all the capital cities; resize all of them, give each one an AH and all that jazz. Would let us go to the cities we prefer, instead of stuffing us all into Stormwind and Org.

I think Stormwind is supposed to be bigger, like in the Warcraft movie. The place was HUGE.

I think Blizzard should one day expand Stormwind and Orgrimmar to be like Suramar, Boralus, and Dazar’alor. They don’t have to delete anything they have now, I just think it’d be cool if they added way more to them to make them feel like the newer cities.

Makes me sad we didn’t get Karabor and Bladespire Citadel in Orcnor.

Technically Karabor was never an actual city, just a temple of light.

It’s interesting to look at Stormwind, then Gilneas, then Boralus to see the evolution of their idea of a human city.

I think if they were to do Stormwind over, they’d add a few more flight paths.

Everyone hates on the Dazor’Alor pyramid, but it’s organized, and after a few days, you know where everything is and can easily run around without getting lost.

I’ve been playing Alliance side for like two months, now, and I still get lost in Boralus.

I don’t think it’s bigger than Stormwind, but it’s close.

Stormwind (and Orgrimmar) just need to be redone so they are better cities. Stormwind could easily use a couple more flightpaths, more “doodads”, and a livelier populace. Even a few areas where the population isn’t exactly friendly to player characters would be nice.

Then again, the WOW RPG says Gadgetzan is a thriving metropolis and one of the largest cities on Kalimdor and what we have in the game is a wall with a few huts inside it.

Yes, unlike Stormwind there is a lot of wasted space (or at least Stormwind’s wasted space is areas you don’t go to anyway.)

I would not mind BoreAllUs, if they finally would fix their occlusion/view distance more for outside areas:

Inside of an indoor Inn, in BoreAllUs:

45 FPS. (That shows “occlusion” is working.)

Walk outside of the inn, to the outdoor area, even with view distance/sliders ALL THE WAY DOWN:

15 FPS.

But my FPS is fine again in just a regular outdoor Zone.

Storm wind has a bigger pop than most of the races combined

Actually, I prefer the layout of Boralus as a Horde main. Everything is centrally located and you don’t have to jump up, and down, all of those damned tiers.

Stormwind supposedly is bigger, but the way they created Boralus makes it look much larger. I wish Stormwind would get reworked, but something tells me they won’t do it.
