Is Block Cap Now Possible in 8.3

One of the reasons I switched from Prot War to Prot Pal is because it feels more like an old school mitigation tank from WotLK. Has a very high block rating and can also block spells.

With the removal of dodge it’s pretty hard to get Block capped anymore but I came across a Dodge azerite trait then was thinking if there is any new corruption that increases Dodge? I did see avoidance increased based on haste so wondering if there is something similar. Maybe a combo of traits and gear can bring up Dodge enough to be Block capped.

I am only thinking of this now because with Parry around 30% and Block around 50% is it possible with some combo of gear to achieve the might Block Cap again and be unhittable?

The reason block cap isn’t a thing isn’t because dodge is not a stat we get from anywhere, but because hits are on a 2 roll system.
First you roll for a hit/miss/parry/dodge and then if that hits you roll again for block. So to reach block cap you would need 100% block chance. That would require about 160% mastery with holy shield, or 10971 rating.

The avoidance stat is actually a separate thing which reduces the damage you take from some aoe abilities. Nothing increases dodge except for some azerite traits and a trinket.

Okay didn’t know if there was any other sources now, thanks

Hmmm I see I thought it was get 102.4% from all sources. So say
35% parry
65% block
3 % dodge

Nah 102.4% ceased meaning anything with the introduction of the 2 roll system in MoP

Dam that is a shame, MoP killed a lot of great old systems.
