“This is awfull”

“Actual worst race in history, not even close. They took the previous worst race and somehow managed to mangle it into even bigger monstrosity.”

“They look awful and gear looks even worse on them. I don’t get it.”

The community should call them what they are, Junk

“I’m still baffled as to why they chose to make a trash island of potato people with metal limbs, instead of a lost titan city filled to the brim with little killer robots. Junker Gnomes are just so lame in comparison to Clockwork Gnomes (the true Mechagnomes).”

“Trash Trash Trash!!!”

Edit: Also this, Thread titles speaks for itself.

It is similar to what happened with game of thrones. There were a dozen fan theory ideas on where to take the story that would have been incedibly creative and exciting. However, the producers, for unknown reasons, made nonsensical and boring choices. So to with wow. Blizz should read feedback from forums and youtubers rather than blindly pressing forward with this nonsense.

I’m not sure where this debate is going. If Ion gets in front of people and says “we think artifact power was really good and we want to double down on it”, the crowd would go predictably nuts.

That’s not toxicity, that’s honesty

Yeah you are right but I meant it in a way that the forums for the most part isn’t a place where you can fairly gauge player opinion because it has grown into a wildly slanted and biased troll haven with the same few people taking the hot topic that is being raised-talked about and amplifying it 10000x.

The game itself is problematic of a group of people that seemingly aren’t fit for X role - and their design philosophy is all twisted up and turned upside down.

It took this current team that is in charge, 3 years to recognize publicly a few major faults. And said that by then it was too late… what is too late about implementing a hotfix right then and there and writing a blue post explaining the reason. There is no shame is saying they oversaw a mistake and wanting to fix it, not waiting literal years to change something.

Game been declining for awhile now. It started in Cataclysm, but a huge notice was during Ion’s run which started in WoD and current expansion. They haven’t learn their pathfinder design and essences are toxic to the game. I mean if a huge subs drop wasn’t a hint. Then I don’t know what else is.

I agree. I’m just adding that they do the opposite of what you said. They double down on things people clearly dont like, then get mad when reactions are not “great job Ion”.

Dev team has Team A and Team B. While one team works on one expansion and work on the maintenance of that expansion, the other team works on the next expansion.

Team A made Vanilla WOW
Team B made TBC
Team A made WotLK
Team B made Cata
Team A made MoP
Team B made WOD
Team A made Legion
Team B made BFA
According to this trend, It’s team A again making the Shadowlands Expansion.

I think so far Team A has been successful. Vanilla, WotLK, Mop and Legion, those were the expansions that were met with positive feed backs from the player base. So, I think Shadowlands will be good.

I am just tired of xpac areas and zones being so small.

They keep recycling this AP and mission board system with diablo like dailies and world quests.

And i would have been okay with Allied races as a concept if the sub-races were more distinct than a recolor and hood ornament.

Because Legion allied races are by far THE WORST of the allied race addition.

^^^ You pretty much hit the nail on the head, the way the fandoms been acting I wouldn’t the game devs being frustrated and feeling burnt out because there’s no winning no matter what they do. Anytime they try to rectify a mistake they admit was one it’s automatically “Backpeddling” sticking to their guns on something? “Doubling down and expressing how much they hate us” Fuggin’ Hells, how jaded do people have to be to perceive a company is spiting them?

If they appease the entitled elitists, they alienate the casual market who keep the lights on and feed their families,if they keep doing them then they get accosted by the salty elitists mentioned who want all the good content to themselves so keep lobbying to get QoL taken away.

It also doesn’t help that this fandom is on par with the Star Wars and Sonic fanbase on levels of being fickle. People wanted scaling [observed this through the years since GW2 came out] they deliver suddenly it’s the bane of allegedly “everyone’s” existence because suddenly a streamer hates it,People wanted more QoL features so they can play at their leisure given it’s a game and not a second job,the vocal minority end up griping it and comparing it to cancer because “filthy casual plebs” parroting an entitled streamer/alleged game industry employee who coincidentally hates it and wants/demands more gatekeeping [notice a pattern?] Add in past words taken out of context throughout the years thrown back at you repeatedly [IE-awkward jokes] and again I can understand some Devs and CMs getting burnt out and frustrated having Nam flashbacks of Karen encounters in retail. Often leading said Devs and CMs move onto greener pastures IE-Ghostcrawler [aka former pariah] going to riot and Lore [current paraiah until he’s driven away] not touching his twitter as much.

It isn’t easy to please people when they don’t have a clear notion of what’s actually wanted especially since there’s always so many mixed messages from the forums [who are only a VERY small percentile] who just seem as though they’re never going to be happy. Kinda reminds me of the scenario of a person asking their significant other what they want for dinner, they either don’t know, are vague or tell you to pick and they get mad after complying and suggesting something like Thai food when you should have read their minds and known they wanted sushi leaving said person utterly befuddled.

TLDR: There’s just no pleasing the forums like ever, they’ve complained about literally everything since day 1 and Devs can’t fix a game when players can’t even decide what they want and get mad when Blizzard notices past feedback and tries to comply. If there’s legit/REAL critiques, cool beans let those issues get fixed but people need to learn to stop being so damn angry all the time and put the pitch forks down. Toxicity of that level does more harm than good.

Agreed-- And, what’s worse is you don’t know what age any of the people are in the forums. Many of them swayed by “their favorite streamer”. Who almost always is a Talking Head who ends up amassing a lot of very young viewers who don’t really understand the full scope of the issues, but will beat his viewpoints like a dead horse. Then, there are the fans who are older, but still can’t think for themselves-- usually identifiable by how they cling to nostalgia and their not-so-thinly veiled racism/sexism. Starting to understand where Blizz gets its inspiration for the hungering void, it’s from these obnoxious fans. I can’t even imagine what some of these people must be like IRL, that negative personality has to seep into every aspect of their personal lives.

unfortunately you may be quite right.

covenants: aren’t they just aldor / scryers, except there are 4 of them.

No. Their storytelling has always been pretty bad.

…but wow is still hands-down the best MMO on the market. So we take what we can get.

There are legitimate complaints but most are just run-of-the-mill fake outrage threads and spam. There are very few well-constructed feedback threads and they’re usually drown out by the spam and outrage threads anyway.

Quality assurance is declining FOR SURE.
Not really an opinion at this point.

Its not a design issue though.
Its just a polish thing.

Its happening because they continue to develop two patches ahead and never have anywhere near enough interest in testing the stuff when it needs to be tested.

I’m not sure this problem is fixable though, as obviously they still struggle to get an expansion every 2 years and outside of paying people to test their patches I dont know what they can do to get more people critically testing things instead of treating the PTR like a free to play WoW.

Are you kidding me? This place blew up in outrage and tears over MoP and Legion.

perhaps the bigger problem is they never listen to ones they do have testing.

To each their own I gotta say.

I understand why people say this, but its not anywhere near the problem people think it is.

Most of the “feedback” is not something that can be listened to at all.
A vast majority of what is said is just unactionable, either because it directly opposes design philosophy, or its contradictory to something else that is said.

So taking away the subjective stuff, that leaves us with two points of interest.

  1. Things that are objectively broken. Bugs, glitches, exploits. Many of THESE don’t get fixed either, and that is the problem. People aren’t looking for them, people aren’t playing the game the way they might on live, and worse, people are hiding their knowledge of them.
But still, its not that they don’t listen, its just that fixing that many things likely takes far more time than they have, and they have too little information on it.
    and
  2. Things that absolutely should improve, but don’t.
Great example is how Island loot worked out of the gate.
Don’t think anyone thought that was good, but it took them months to fix it.
This has to be because they are just spread too thin.
They are making 8.1 before 8.0 is out, and anything that seems to NOT be in the category of #1 here just gets pushed to the subsequent patch.

That’s the issue with the game’s process right now.

Great systems exist, but it takes them so long to get great they lose a lot of people on the way.

I have no idea how to fix it, but saying they aren’t listening just isn’t true.
They just aren’t acting.

Didn’t they fire all their testers?
